About this audiobook
“Luke flung the light of his torch full onto the face of the immobile figure. Then he had the shock of his life. The man had no face! Where his face should have been was a sort of inhuman, uniform blank!” When a body is found at an isolated garage, Inspector Meredith is drawn into a complex investigation where every clue leads to another puzzle: was this a suicide, or something more sinister? Why was the dead man planning to flee the country? And how is this connected to the shady business dealings of the garage? This classic mystery novel is set amidst the stunning scenery of a small village in the Lake District.

Reviews for The Lake District Murder

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Like Freeman Wills Crofts novels, the story is about the details of detection and the involved intricacies of crime that led to the death, including all the dead ends and frustrations. I found the initial scene setting really interesting but I felt it got a bit bogged down when it got onto why the murder happened. By the end the actual murder that sets the opening scenes is far less important than the criminal activities that led to the death. The narrator is absolutely first class and I’ll look for more novels that he narrates. He’s done about 750+ !!
