About this audiobook

Stu Lawson had always lived in the small town of Occident. He’d been born a farmer, and he was more than happy to stay a farmer even when his dad decided it wasn’t the life for him. He’s been raising his daughter since the day she was born, and he’s never regretted being a single dad, but Stu has a few secrets.

Morgan Grant was born into a life he never wanted and had done everything he could to avoid. Staying drunk helps him forget and numbs the pain he can’t bring himself to face. After a long night of drinking, he ends up dumped in a small town north of Sacramento without money, his phone, or a way to get back to the city he calls home.

Stu’s focus has always been his daughter, but he can’t control his curiosity about the stranger who shows up in Occident alone in the middle of the night. He offers to help, even when he knows he shouldn’t. Old feelings rise to the surface and he’s helpless to ignore them, or Morgan. This stranger could be his chance at happiness, or his downfall. #singledad #gayromance #stranded #smalltownromance #secrets

BL Maxwell

BL Maxwell grew up in a small town listening to her grandfather spin tales about his childhood. Later she became an avid reader and after a certain vampire series she became obsessed with fanfiction. She soon discovered Slash fanfiction and later discovered the MM genre and was hooked. Many years later, she decided to take the plunge and write down some of the stories that seem to run through her head late at night when she's trying to sleep.

I absolutely loved One Last Chance by BL Maxwell. All the characters complimented each other as the story progressed, right from Stu and Morgan, to Stu's parents and Stu's lovely daughter Mariah whom he adored added that much more to the story.

Morgan is a carefree youngster, taking a break from college, partying and drinking his life away found himself dumped in a small town after one such drunken partying with a man he met at a bar. Stu was out farming on his tractor when he spotted a man on the road and was about to run him down, seeing the drunken state the man was in he brings him home. This was the turning point in Morgan's life and changes him forever.

Stu needed help on the farm and offered Morgan a job till he decides to go back to his home town. But Morgan liked working on the land, for once happy working with his hands and away from the city life he had led so far.

Morgan was gay and thought Stu to be straight, but Morgan though married earlier had a secret he would not admit to, and as their friendship progressed attraction between them grew. Stu finally admitted being gay too and had suppressed his sexuality for a long time. Love gradually blossomed between them creating a happy family of their own.

Morgan's parents though rich and successful discarded Morgan out of their lives like yesterdays garbage. When he found out that it was his parents who had paid someone to dump him far away from Sacramento for cash, he breaks off all ties with them after confronting them of their doing.

The story is fast paced and I liked how Stu and Morgan fit into each other's lives without much drama or angst. A simple love story which touched my heart.

Narration by Jack Watson was superb bringing the characters and the story to life.
5 stars for both, the story and the narrator.
