I usually love Jessica’s books but this one is unnecessarily depressing.

I also HATE this new format of alternating chapters in the male character’s voice. I don’t need to know the thoughts of every male character, that’s not why I read chick lit. I read them before for once they center female voice, female experience, female themes. For me, it feels like someone told Jessica that the female protagonist stories weren’t ‘enough’ which is irritating.

I loved the old format and the narrators. I wish she’d stuck with what works instead of this new format, especially with the annoying nasal voice of the male narrator.
