This is the 18th book in Catherine Coulter's FBI series and this was not one of the better ones. Blessed was revised in this book and finally killed off while Savich and Sherlock were trying to solve the mystery of who was trying to kill the US Ambassador to the UK and threatening her daughter. I did like it, but may not read anymore in this series. It is starting to get old.

My British husband has me listening to the Paul and Steve Temple stories on BBC radio for the past year or so and I could not help but compare those works to this. Mr. and Mrs. Temple work with Scotland Yard to solve crimes in England. They are shot at, run off the road, poisoned or drugged and so on. Here we have the reverse, an American couple, Savich and Sherlock, working with the FBI trying to keep a diplomat and her family from being killed. Throw in a deranged escapee who is stalking our pair of detectives and has the ability to mesmerize his victims into doing his bidding and we have an exciting cocktail. This is my first Coulter read and I found it quite enjoyable. It is fast paced and full of suspense. There is romantic tension, and even an appearance of a member of Scotland Yard. If I even get to meet Ms. Coulter, I will have to ask her if she is a fan of Paul and Steve Temple. My thanks to the author and Penguin's First to Read program for a complimentary copy.

FBI Agent Davis Sullivan stumbles onto an attempt to car jack Natalie Black's car. His response really impresses Natalie. So she turns to him for help. Someone is trying to destroy her career and kill her. Davis convinces her to bring his boss, Special Agent Dillon Savich in on helping her.Meanwhile, someone tries to kill Special Agent Lacy Sherlock, who is Dillon Savich's wife.It turns out Blessed Backman has escaped and is after Sherlock and Savich. To understand who Blessed is and why the thin he is so dangerous you need to have read Knock Out. There are references to Nicholas Drummond and the case he solved in "The Final Cut" 1st in the Brit in the FBI series. And they are setting up for the next Brit in the FBI series. But you don't really need to have read Final Cut before reading this book.This is a good thriller. Very little Paranormal. Just a small amount of Blessman's ability to control people.I was interest to see how it turned out.

Events that took place a year ago (Knock Out - 2009), play a part in this new release, although it should be easy enough for those who haven’t read that book to follow. Blessed Backman, a man who can hypnotize most people just by catching their eyes, has escaped confinement and blames married FBI Special Agents Savich and Sherlock for the death of his family and wants vengeance. But these books always contain two cases and the second one involves the couple du jour, sportswriter Perry Black and Special Agent Davis Sullivan when Perry’s mother, the U S Ambassador to the United Kingdom, is the target in a number of assassination attempts and now Perry is being threatened.This time the story and action all take place on the home front and Savich and Sherlock are involved in both cases. Blessed just doesn’t give up so there’s plenty of action and drama on that end as well as break-ins and shoot-outs on the other.As always there is plenty of humor, mostly in the form of conversations, which makes the characters fun to read about. But long ago I found it somewhat annoying that so many of her characters across both this series as well as her historicals have the same sense of humor and love of food, almost like they're talking with the same voice. I’ve learned to accept that this isn’t going to change and just go with the flow.The author’s love of football is evident in this story, although thankfully we don’t get buried in it. But we do see how and why the media feel it’s so important to dig up information on celebrities that we really have no business knowing. And we get politics in this one in the form of the Ambassador, the Secretary of State, the President and a Senator.On the whole I enjoyed both the story and the characters and found it to be a fairly fast-clipped read.

In a strong story line, "Power Play" lacks something.Normally, I really enjoy Catherine Coulter's writing but not this time.Natalie Black is the U.S. Ambassador to the United Kingdom. Her fiance dies in an auto accident and there are rumors that she is responsible.Her daughter, Perry, is a very attractive woman who works for the newspaper.Natalie returns to the U.S. and someone appears to be stalking Perry. The reader is led to believe the stalker is Psychopath Blessed Blackman. FBI also believes that Blackman who has escaped from prison, might be at work again since there is a link between Blackman and Davis Sullivan.I read the first couple of hundred pages but found I was forcing myself to continue. Therefore I put the book aside and hope for a more entertaining novel for the next read.Pass this one up.

This is the 18th book in the FBI series. Natalie Black is the US Ambassador to England. Someone tried to kill her in England. Now, she's back in the States and the same thing is happening. Natalie meets Davis Sullivan when a man tries to carjack her. She immediately trusts the FBI agent and tells him what's going on. He gets Savich and Sherlock involved. The mystery is very intriguing. There is another storyline that has an old nemesis, Blessed Backman, on the loose and trying to kill Sherlock. I kept turning the pages to find out what would happen next. Both storylines were interesting. David was really funny and I enjoyed his relationship with Perry Black, the Ambassador's daughter. Savich and Sherlock form a strong backbone for these stories. The other characters are always interesting and engaging. It was great to see Nicholas Drummond again. This author always delivers. This is one of my favorite series.

Story of lies and romance in the corporate world. Good five CDs, good for drive home from NC. I thought it was good til disc 5. The author seemed to just want to get it over with. The ending was anti-climatic. I would have put more angst and confrontation into the finale.

“Power Play”, by Danielle Steel is nothing short of entertaining, exciting with quite a few twists and turns throughout the book. The book focuses on the lives of two CEO's, both successful in playing the power card in their own way. Fiona Carson a divorcee uses power to push harder each day in a male dominated business world. She tries hard to have a balance of work and spending time with her children. Marshall Weston is also very successful with a beautiful wife who goes out of her way to impress his clients. Marshall holds a secret that has the potential to change the lives of many.The author does a great job at making both characters very likable. The author is known for romance in her books and she doesn't disappoint with romance in this book either. I would recommend this book it is an easy read and entertaining.

Power Play by Danielle Steel Alternating chapters as the story follows each family and their daily lives as they go through business and family events.Phoeona, single has proven herself. Marshall is married and has a livid past that may catch up with him.Two CEO's kids have started dating and the story follows the rifts as events from their past come to the forefront.Thought this would be a her life as a CEO and his life as a CEO and they are the complete opposites and I thought it'd be pretty predictable.Glad there are so many twists and turns and then some as things settle down.. Few characters, very easy to keep track of, love small details.I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).
