About this audiobook

Roselle faces a mind-reeling showdown with the deep state agent controlling her psyche in the Wall Street Journal bestselling conclusion to the Secondborn series.

Roselle St. Sismode is many things: victim of a conspiracy, unwilling host of an ever-evolving mind algorithm, spy for a rebel army, and heir to the Fate of Swords. As a warrior, she’s also the anticipated main event at the Secondborn Trials. When the opening ceremonies erupt in chaos, Roselle is abducted by a sadistic agent with a diabolical plan: transform Roselle into a mind-controlled assassin to topple society. But a rogue scientist has implanted Roselle with a genius technology that is far more powerful. It renders her untouchable. Faster. Stronger. And maybe immortal.

With her enhanced abilities come the highest stakes yet, as Roselle confronts shifting realities at every turn as well as her own mother’s stunning betrayal. Racing against time with a determined resistance group, can Roselle overthrow the forces of destruction and reclaim the most valuable of commodities—her humanity?

The first two books were taut and intelligent. Completely different story than previous. This one jumped so many sharks... Never before seen anything like it. R loses IQ points, misses obvious connections. Stuff happens that is completely different than before but doesn't explain itself. Crazy. Many people I am told couldn't finish it. I am grinding through but... Damn. Totally confusing and vague and heart strings just get crossed and dessimated.

This book got a lot of crap because it took you into a quantum theory type environment using a computer AI simulator as the example world. Once you give the whole book a listen you appreciate where Amy A. Bartol was coming from and it really gives the 3 book series a final conclusion. I loved the main female lead, the journey she struggles thru, the counter forces she must maneuver around in order to survive. The world building and character depths are relatable, believable and complex.

So look past any bad reviews and give this 3rd installment of the Secondborn series a open minded chance and I believe you will enjoy the outcome with satisfaction.

I think the author went off on a tangent with the story line. The first 2 books were firmly set in one reality. The third book unexpectedly goes into alternate universes or worlds. Clones of the main characters and a bunch of stuff that was hard to follow at times. The third book was so different that it didn’t seem like a sequel but a separate story.
