About this audiobook
Darrow returns as Pierce Brown’s New York Times bestselling Red Rising series continues in the thrilling sequel to Dark Age.
“Brown’s plots are like a depth charge of nitromethane dropped in a bucket of gasoline. His pacing is 100% him standing over it all with a lit match and a smile, waiting for us to dare him to drop it.”—NPR, on Dark Age
“The measure of a man is not the fear he sows in his enemies. It is the hope he gives his friends.”—Virginia au Augustus
The Reaper is a legend, more myth than man: the savior of worlds, the leader of the Rising, the breaker of chains.
But the Reaper is also Darrow, born of the red soil of Mars: a husband, a father, a friend.
The worlds once needed the Reaper. But now they need Darrow. Because after the dark age will come a new age: of light, of victory, of hope.
Don’t miss any of Pierce Brown’s Red Rising Saga:
RED RISING • GOLDEN SON • MORNING STAR • IRON GOLD • DARK AGE • LIGHT BRINGER

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/53.5 stars. It's been so long since Dark Age that it is hard to keep all the characters and their backgrounds straight. When Darrow lists those he's lost, they are just names for the most part. I love this series - Brown can write - but I had to let go of trying to merge the current volume with the previous ones. I wish Sevro were given more depth here - he's my favorite howler.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5So good. So so good. Would recommend it to everyone.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Dangit man. I loved it. But the next book better be the last. I need them to win! And it better end with Darro dying of old age and going through the veil and seeing all the characters we fell in love with that died in the previous books. That's it. Make it happen Pierce. You've strung us out to far, my heart can't take it.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Pierce Brown delivers what is quite possibly the best entry in what has been a phenomenal series with Light Bringer. The novel corrects course on several personal critiques that I felt personally from the previous two entries. His continued progress in improving his ability to provide different perspectives through Virginia, Lyria and Lysander feel so much less like a distraction and so much more like a enrichment of the overall story in general. Previously, I felt certain perspectives less interesting, or perhaps, carried less weight than the constant plight of Darrow and his struggle against the society. Light Bringer, in my opinion completely corrects that problem using a double edged sword. not only is narrative focus of this chapter in the saga more focused, the characters have the provided context and added agency from the previous entry to make their stories more impactful and interesting in the context of the overall plot. As far as the emotional threads both original and rehashed and without giving anything away, just know that I am still crying. Bravo Pierce Brown, break the chains!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Light Bringer is an excellent follow up to Dark Age, the four year wait was definitely worth it!
