About this audiobook

From the coauthor of the #1 New York Times bestseller American Sniper comes a heart-pounding military thriller in which the fabled Special Ops unit is activated to stop a group of terrorists from launching “suitcase” nukes somewhere in America.

When Chechen terrorists manage to smuggle a Cold War–era Russian nuke across the Mexican-American border, the President is forced to reactivate the only unit capable of stopping them: Navy SEAL sniper Gil Shannon and his brash team of SEALs and Delta Force fighters. First introduced in Sniper Elite: One-Way Trip, hailed by Publishers Weekly as a “meaty thriller” with “snappy dialogue and well-timed humor,” Shannon and his team were run out of the military after defying direct orders and instead choosing to save the life of one of their own.

In Target America, Gil and his team, many of whom had gone rogue, are reunited as an off-the-books Special Ops unit that must race against the clock to save the country from nuclear destruction.

#1 New York Times bestselling author Scott McEwen once again delivers a gripping and fast-paced adventure that illuminates the shadow world of clandestine military operations.

Very new to Scott McEwan's writing but I couldn't put it down, excellent read.

Story line was good, but sometimes drawn out and long.

Great book. Unfortunately the only draw back is that scribd must have an issue with the recording of some of these. Several books I’ve listened to, including this one, skips or bypasses chapters and makes following the storyline difficult.

This is a book that grabs the reader's interest from the start. Two nuclear bombs are smuggled into the U.S. by terrorists. The second bomb was being transported to the U.S. via a drug carter's tunnel under the Mexican U.S. border. This bomb exploded prematurely. Although there was nuclear fallout, it was limited because the bomb was under the ground.U.S. Navy SEAL Master Chief Gil Shannon and his unit are sent on a special ops mission to find the missing nuke. The author mixes fact and fiction in this Sniper Elite series. Much of the story comes from collective narrations of active and retired members of the U.S. Navy SEALS.Suspense mounts as Gil and his men search for the nuke. They learn that the nuke is set to go off in a few days and the reader turns the pages nervously in hope that they will be on time. There are two segments to the story. In one, Gil is searching for the bomb. In the other, a Chechen terrorist wants revenge on Gil and decides to kill him. The Chechen will use a sniper's rifle, the weapon of Gil's choice. This part of the story takes place at Gil's ranch in Montana. Gil's wife, Marie, shows herself to be gutsy and determined not to let the sniper kill her husband. The time before the detonation is very close as Gil and his boss learn that two brothers, members of AQAP, (Al qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula) are behind the selection of the target. Gil and his boss must deal with potential international repercussions as they seek one of the brothers who is operating out of Canada. The characters are well described and the combat scenes very realistic.I received a copy of this book in return for my review.
