- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Instead of just saying people need to create new healthy habits, Loehr and Schwartz give ample evidence for why people dissatisfied with the way their lives are now should and how they can make new habits to improve their quality of life. According to the authors, the reason people generally don't make the life changing improvements that we want to make is that we really have little mental stamina for constant decision-making. Willpower just doesn't do it.We are creatures of habit who take the path of least resistance when we are overwhelmed (which is often). The way to make sure that we can function at our best mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually is to tie the behavior you want to create to a core value in your life. Then systematically work to make it a habit. Once it is a habit, you won't have to force yourself to do it during times of high stress or busyness. The other major theme in the book is that people are out of balance because we don't monitor our stress and recovery times. We tend to work, work, work and rest whenever we have a chance. Our spirit, mental capacity and emotional intelligence operate the same way as our bodies. In order to create a greater flexibility in any of those categories, you have to use the "muscle" and then let it rest (recover). Humans are not designed to go, go, go without breaks. We are rhythmic beings. The book includes a website to take the free assessment and begin your own analysis so that you can create your own personal development plan. The ideas presented make a lot of sense and made me feel better about the changes that I've tried to make that haven't stuck, yet. I now have the tools to make those improvements. Will definitely be putting these actions steps to use!

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Definitely thought provoking, and it convinced me to sign up for a photography class I've wanted to take.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Excellent book with wonderful real life examples! I highly recommend it.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Nicely paced read that keeps pulling you in with thoughtful truths. Really like their take on things laid out simply in the back of the book. The rest of the book puts flesh on the concepts with practical examples. There seemed, to me, too many examples but many resonated with me. I think this makes for a good reference book, you can get cheaply since it is 10 years old. However, the truths have enduring relevance. It makes sense to watch you energy maybe more than your time. Particularly like the sprint and recovery concept. Some things about eating, not so sure that is scientifically up to date.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Great book with applicable and actionable advice. Enjoyed hearing from the authors
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5It was ok, however most of it was pretty useless. There were only a few real insights.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5An excellent read about going with the cycles or rhythms of life. Time is not the substrate to be managed, but energy. A full engagement is called for with the four realms of physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. The resting part of the cycle should be equally celebrated. Feeling guilty during rest and relaxation wastes energy!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Excellent audio book, helpful advices and easy to understand. Highly recommended.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Highly recommended. Without having known of this fully, I've been quoting from it for years. The language and structure are a little too much like a workbook for my tastes but the ideas, recommendations and practices are sound and compelling and will appeal to many over-stressed folks. Those most skeptical of the softer psycho-spiritual works will be impressed.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Not much new here. And very much geared toward workaholic executives who have the option to make their own schedules.
