About this audiobook
The Shadowhunters must catch a killer in Edwardian London in this dangerous and romantic sequel to the #1 New York Times bestselling novel Chain of Gold, from New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Cassandra Clare. Chain of Iron is a Shadowhunters novel.
Cordelia Carstairs seems to have everything she ever wanted. She’s engaged to marry James Herondale, the boy she has always loved; she has a new life in London with her best friend Lucie; and she bears the sword Cortana, a legendary hero’s blade.
But the truth is far grimmer. Cordelia’s marriage is a lie, arranged to save her reputation, while James remains in love with the Grace Blackthorn. Cortana burns her when she touches it. And a serial murderer is targeting the Shadowhunters of London, killing under cover of darkness, then vanishing without a trace.
Now Cordelia, James, and Lucie must follow the trail of the killer through the city’s most dangerous streets. All the while, each is keeping a shocking secret: Lucie, that she is attempting to raise the dead; Cordelia, that she has sworn a dangerous oath of loyalty to a mysterious power; and James, that he himself may be the killer they seek.

What our readers think
Readers find this title to be a favorite series in the Shadow Hunter World. The narrator's performance is praised for making voices and accents for everyone. However, some readers did not enjoy the book as much as they expected and it may be their last Shadowhunters book. The book is character-based and combines crime thriller and fantasy genres.

Oh my god I have to wait an entire year for the next book this is torture. It's Oct 19, 2021 and "Chain of Thorns" won't be released until Nov 1, 2022. Someone please just shoot me now. Poor James and Daisy and Mathew oh I wonder how it'll end. *Shakes fists at the sky*1 person found this helpful

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5

Even when the narrator did an amazing job making voices and accents for everyone I did not enjoy this book as much as I tough I would. It was nor good, nor bad but it just wasn’t for me. I think this might be the last Shadowhunters book I read. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5

This book's prose is more character-based and very much a crime thriller fantasy as we find the Merry Thieves caught up in the murder investigations of several Shadowhunters but the killer is not human. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5

I have always been enchanted by how Cassandra makes one feel so many emotions with her stories.
I have to say that Tatiana is the villain I hate the most in the Shadowhunters saga; she is a character who, from the moment she is mentioned, fills me with hatred, and even though they use Grace, it doesn’t make me see her as a victim.
Just when you think everything is going to be resolved, everything crumbles down. I can’t handle that ending; how am I going to wait for the next book after how this has ended? I demand that everything be resolved.
I think that Lucie's character is incredibly frustrating; everything is a secret with her, and I don’t feel that she has that connection with Cordelia to be Parabatai; I feel that their relationship lacks more trust than what they currently have. Although I liked the previous book a little more, Chain of Iron was incredible, I loved it, and that ending filled me with such desperation and sadness that it kept me awake; I definitely can't wait to read the last book. (Translated from Spanish) - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5

I liked it, but it still didn't meet the expectations I had. The story is well written, you get to know the characters a bit more and that helps you empathize with them. (Translated from Spanish) - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5

I definitely liked it more than the previous book; this time we see a progression of the story with a good pace.
I really want to know what will happen with the princes of hell, and the paladin of Lilith, what will happen with Jesse Blackthorn and Lucie Herondale.
And that epilogue, I need to know more about the spiral labyrinth, it's a super interesting place that we haven't been told much about. (Translated from Spanish) - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5

I have to admit that I am disappointed with this book. I was expecting much more. I feel that the most valuable part is reconnecting with the characters, but I don't know if it's just me or what, but most of them rubbed me the wrong way in this book. I feel that in the first book they focused more on the group as a whole and this time, by concentrating on fewer characters, it lost some magic. Or maybe the problem lies with the characters that took the spotlight, and honestly, I don’t feel like they did much. If there's anything redeemable about this book, in my opinion, it's the perspective Grace has, whom I no longer hate as much. Of course, there were moments that excited me, but the story overall didn’t capture me like other books by the author. The unnecessary drama caused by a lack of communication bores me a lot, and I hope they don’t continue with that in the next book. (Translated from Spanish) - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5

This book begins with the marriage between Cordelia and James, who along with their friends have to solve the mystery regarding a killer who is murdering shadow hunters. There is a lot of lack of communication, which led to misunderstandings and an unexpected ending. On the other hand, Lucy is investigating a way to bring Jesse back to life, who has been a victim of a great injustice. One of the parts I enjoyed the most was the interaction between Thomas and Alastair. And I am still hoping for a happy ending for Mathew. Grace is more likable in this book, but some of her actions seem reprehensible to me. Now we wait for the next installment. (Translated from Spanish) - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5

I took a long time to post this review because I hardly had time to read, let alone to review, and also I don't know how to explain the disappointment I felt with this book. I expected more from Cassandra Clare. Normally, she manages to balance action and romance, with a good plot and great villains. However, in this book, she focused so much on the soap opera she created with the characters that she sidelined the action and the plot that characterize this wonderful world she built. To top it off, the soap opera wasn't very good; the characters would get upset and things happened because of silly reasons and implausible actions. There were few good things I would salvage from this book. I hope the third one improves. (Translated from Spanish) - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5

AAAAAAHH. This book is pure good, juicy drama.
It's a shitty book that made me suffer, damn it. ? This Cassandra just wants to see me sad. And now I have to wait a year to keep suffering. ? (Translated from Spanish) - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5

The second book of The Last Hours...
Continues with how things ended up after the previous book.
A temporary marriage and many illusions.
This book focuses a lot on stormy loves.
It was entertaining. I adore the characters and their sense of humor. Additionally, it’s always nice for our old protagonists to appear or be remembered in certain quotes.
A bit overloaded and I feel they prolonged a problem to reach the end, which felt a bit excessively melodramatic.
I now recommend the book "The Ghosts of the Shadow Market," as apparently the stories will not be told in detail in this trilogy, or that’s the impression I got.
I liked it, I didn’t love it. I eagerly await its conclusion. (Translated from Spanish) - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5

Well, it's a 4.5 because I loved the whole book, but the last pages were like a soap opera drama! I love Will, he's so funny ? James is a sweetheart ? and Cordelia! I suffered so much with her?, I can't wait for the third one!! (Translated from Spanish)
