About this audiobook

The New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling collection of short stories chronicling the adventures of Simon Lewis as he trains to become a Shadowhunter is now available in print with ten brand-new comic illustrations!

Simon Lewis has been a human and a vampire, and now he is becoming a Shadowhunter. The events of City of Heavenly Fire left him stripped of his memories, and Simon isn’t sure who he is anymore. So when the Shadowhunter Academy reopens, Simon throws himself into this new world of demon-hunting, determined to find himself again. Whomever this new Simon might be.

But the Academy is a Shadowhunter institution, which means it has some problems. Like the fact that non-Shadowhunter students have to live in the basement. At least Simon’s trained in weaponry—even if it’s only from hours of playing D&D.

Join Simon on his journey to become a Shadowhunter, and learn about the Academy’s illustrious history along the way, through guest lecturers such as Jace Herondale, Tessa Gray, and Magnus Bane. Written by Cassandra Clare, Sarah Rees Brennan, Maureen Johnson, and Robin Wasserman, these moving and hilarious short stories are perfect for the fan who just can’t get enough of the Shadowhunters.

I've really enjoyed The Tales of Simon in the Shadowhunter Academy. Oh, the trials of living in such squalor and how Simon became friends with his fellow shadowhunters in training. It added to the other books in the series and filled in the missing pieces we needed to hear. I love Simon as a vampire but I am extremely happy he got his memories back after the ascension. All Hail Simon Lovelace!

Absolutely marvelous. Loved it to the last word. Hopefully one day a tv series can be created that does it justice. The whole series including the prequels and all.

I didn't quite enjoyed this book. The thing is, i dont like novellas. I was only told that i should read this b4 TDA and so I did. I thought it's unfair to give 2 stars because of personal preferences. The stories were actually good. but i was just not completely into the stories. They all felt dull. But I guess all novellas feels dull for me.

I read Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy. The small telling of Simon from The Mortal Instruments Series going to the Shadowhunter Academy and a few other short stories. I would recommend reading that series before reading this book. Also, if you read The Dark Artifices before this book, it might give away a few spoilers but nothing to major. Also add to The Red Scrolls of Magic a little as well. We all know Cassie's books connect in some way or another.

I love the world that Cassie has created! I have read all of her series in the Shadow world. To this day she is one of my favorite authors. Now this book is a co-write with a few other authors just like The Bane Chronicles and Ghost of the Shadow Market. I have read two those also.

I like this book and it was nice to finally see how Simon became a Shadowhunter and how he dealt with losing his memory. The small details that you catch about how certain things come to life in the major series in this world. Also, few back stories from other characters in The Mortal Instruments and The Dark Artifices series that you don't get in those books. When you love a series like this those extra clips and extension are amazing.

I gave this book 3 stars because if you aren't all into the Cassandra Clare books and her world this book would not make sense to you. It can be a stand-alone but I wouldn't recommend that at all. So, if you're not willing to take on those hefty reads this book would not do you justice.

I really liked this installment in the Shadowhunters series. I never really got to learn about Simon that much, so it was nice to see his transformation in this book from scrappy, to strong and amazing. He sort of reminds me of myself, which is probably why I loved it so much, but besides that, I'm very excited to continue this amazingly long series with the Dark Artificies trio! Thank you again Casandra Clare for such a wonderful series of adventure!

Flowed well and about what I expected from this book. More background on Simon and the book followed his life when training to become a shadow hunter. I did love getting peaks into what some of the other characters were up to.

I loved this so much! I was a little worried that I wouldn't like this as much as I did the regular novels. I read The Bane Chronicles prior to this and imagined that this would be choppy like that one was since this was a bunch of novellas put together like The Bane Chronicles was, but Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy was very different. If you didn't know this was comprised of multiple stories, you would just think that these were just regular chapters in a book. It flowed so well, and it allowed me to revel in their world just a little longer. This is all about Simon joining the Shadowhunter Academy and him finding his way, making friends, and trying to get his memories back. I can't say enough how much I love the whole Shadwhunter world!

I loved it, a few parts felt a bit heavy, but overall it was a really entertaining read. After losing his memories, Simon decides to go to the Shadowhunter academy to level up and take the Mortal Cup, and maybe become a Shadowhunter, and if he succeeds, regain his memories. In each of the stories, we also get to know some secondary characters and protagonists like Tessa, Will, and Jem in more depth, as well as Emma and the Blackthorns. Oh, and here we also learn how Alec and Magnus become parents to a bluish baby warlock ❤️. (Translated from Spanish)

After the end of the main saga, we see a Simon without memories; this is the path to recovering his memories.

In my opinion, I liked all the stories quite a bit; some broke my heart, but in the end, I can only say it was an excellent book, if you can tolerate the inferiority complex that Simon seems to have throughout most of the book.

I won’t give spoilers about the ending; I think many reviews take away the emotional weight by revealing it, but I want you to know that it is totally worth it and it is an incredible book. (Translated from Spanish)

I must say that I never loved Simon, but I adored these stories, especially the one about James and Matthew, which is my favorite. I also liked "the evil we love," where they narrate the beginning of the Valentine circle; I loved the story of Helen and Mark, and when Magnus and Alex decided to adopt Max, it was beautiful. I think they both fit very well with their relationship since City of Heavenly Fire, and they are lovely together. The only story that bored me was when Clary and Simon went through the trial by fire. Lastly, I loved James from the beginning; I want to read him now!! Mark captivated me since City of Heavenly Fire; he has suffered a lot ?, and I can't wait to read about him in the Renaissance, and I am very interested in the story of the lost Herondale. There are not enough words to describe this novel, as it has been wonderful and yet I feel that is an understatement.

Reading about Simon's experiences through his eyes has been very refreshing and I enjoyed it a lot. His evolution as a character has been evident, and I have come to understand many of his motivations.

It has also been very interesting how the stories from the past intertwined with what Simon was living and what he needed to hear. Certainly, reading again about Will, Tessa, and other characters has made me very happy.

Reading those two years of Simon's life has allowed me to meet amazing people, but without a doubt, the best has been George; all I wanted to do was hug him and have him as my friend. (Translated from Spanish)

I just wanted this guy in The Mortal Instruments, so HOW AM I NOT GOING TO LOVE HIM NOW? Each story was that grain of sand, that happiness that kept me going during a tiring week, so I will thank you for being so down-to-earth (even if you aren't anymore) and above all, what I loved the most and that impacted me the most, are the Lovelace brothers, thank you for the joy and kindness, and especially for always being there, both for you and for me. This book surprised me, it surprised me because I read it without many expectations, not expecting anything good or bad, just out of interest in reading the entire Shadowhunters universe, and even though I didn't know what to expect, it was full of incredible stories that made me fangirl at many moments. I cried, laughed, shouted, got angry, everything; it made my skin crawl with some tales and with some events in the present of the book. It has many interesting things to complete the universe, and that made it a great book. Simon has never been one of my favorite characters, but undoubtedly discovering things together was a very pleasant experience.
P.S. Cassandra Clare, the queen of showing that everything is incredibly fine and then crushing your heart in five seconds. (Translated from Spanish)

I'm not going to lie, Simon doesn't hold a special place in my heart, but I like him; I think we have a lot in common (in terms of tastes, not lifestyle); so I wasn't that interested in reading this book. However, now I don't regret it because I got to know George, who deserves all the love in the world. There were some stories that seemed unnecessary to me, but there were others that were beautiful, especially the one involving Malec. It's also not an essential book for the story, but it helps to better understand some characters. (Translated from Spanish)

I believe this book is essential to read before starting with TDA. It tells different stories within the same story, and that is very interesting, entertaining, and different from other CD books. It's a book that I read more calmly because there isn't as much action as in others, but rather more explanations about things or situations mentioned in other books. I liked it a lot because I love Sizzy!! ? (Translated from Spanish)

How is it possible that this woman gets me to bond with someone on the first page and then just kills them off!

I loved all the stories told here, especially Will's with Tessa. Matthew's with James, oh God, I loved that one. Seriously, this woman has to write more about Sizzy and Jalec, or my life won't be complete. (Translated from Spanish)

I found it a bit difficult to finish this book; at first, it seemed somewhat boring to me, but at the end of each story, I found the emotion, and the last three were the ones that moved me the most.
It was somewhat difficult to read how Simon believed he had lost everything just because he didn't have his memories, and it was very frustrating to see how he tried to push away everyone who cared for him until he finally accepted it, and everything got better.
We learn more about all the characters, we get a glimpse of their past (never enough), and we meet new characters, new characters with whom you grow attached, but with whom you will surely suffer later.
It's a book that will surely leave you with a broken heart and in some way also happy. (Translated from Spanish)
