Story was interesting, but has a very low morality where woman are used as objects. Negative towards Christianity ?

My rating for this book probably has more to do with my frame of mind while reading it than any actual criticism to the book itself. However I found I just couldn't get into this book. I couldn't focus on it very well and as a result I felt like I kept missing important bits and pieces of information that connected things. The time jump from the end of the last book to the beginning of this book really threw me for a loop which then persisted throughout the rest of my reading. This book will definitely deserve another read at some point in my life when I can pay better attention to it.

What a wonderful series! Jalan's story parallels the one told in The Broken Empire series, but Jalan is such a different character from Jorg with dissimilar motives and behavior. This is more of a buddy tale with Jalan and Snorri, though they do separate for some time at the beginning of The Wheel of Osheim. It's a suitably rousing finish to the Red Queen's war with the Blue Lady. There's a diverse cast of characters that entertain and terrify. I have a hard time deciding which I like best: Jalan or Jorg. In the end, I like them both a lot for different reasons. Jalan does mature some, though he's mostly dragged into it kicking and screaming. There's a lot going on and it's a terrific world setting that echoes back to our Europe while being very different. There's so much to like about this series: the writing, the setting, the characters, but I have to say that the ending really made the book for me. It was perfect.

I've been severely slacking on my reading lately, so it took me awhile to finish this book. However, that didn't stop me from enjoying it immensely. This was a fantastic ending to a fantastic series. It was good to see all of the important characters there at the end game and play their parts.

Snorri has definitely become one of my favorite characters in fantasy books, and easily my favorite in the Broken Empire. Admittedly, I was a little worried and confused throughout the first part of the book in regards to him, but the way his story ended up being told was pretty fantastic and ingenious.

All in all, I've really become a big fan of the world that Lawrence has built and with his style of writing. When the last book in the Book of the Ancestor series gets closer to its release date, I am definitely going to start reading that one.

I always say that I really like how Mark Lawrence sets his characters and tells the story. This book is no exception. I enjoyed it very much.Jalan is complete opposite of Jorge (Prince of Thorns series) and as the story happens in the same era we read that their path collided sometimes.Prince of Thorns was all about Jorge but this series is in my eyes about Jalan and also Builders (us) secrets too. Jalan is not the only hero of this tale, we have Snorri, Kara and even Hennan and Red Queen herself.To me Jalan's story was a side story to Jorge's to reveal more and more about Broken Empire.I liked it very much; however my favorite book of Mark Lawrence remains King of Thorns
