About this audiobook
A volume of short stories by the bestselling author of The Broken Empire series, Mark Lawrence.
This is a collection of fourteen stories of murder, mayhem, pathos, and philosophy, all set in the world of the Broken Empire.
Within these pages, you will find tales of men such as Red Kent, Sir Makin, Rike, Burlow and the Nuban, telling of their origins and the events that forged them. There is Jorg himself, striding the page as a child of six, as a teenage wanderer and as a young king. And then there is a tale about Prince Jalan Kendeth – liar, cheat, womaniser and coward.
To the new reader, welcome to a lawless world where wit and sword are the most useful weapons, and danger lurks as much in candle-lit palaces as in dark alleys and dense woodland. To those who have already journeyed with Jorg, we hope you will enjoy renewing old acquaintances with your favourite characters.
Mark Lawrence
Mark Lawrence is married with four children, one of whom is severely disabled. His day job is as a research scientist focused on various rather intractable problems in the field of artificial intelligence. Between work and caring for his disabled child, Mark spends his time writing, playing computer games, tending an allotment, brewing beer, and avoiding DIY.

Reviews for Road Brothers

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Short story collections are usually mixed with some outstanding stories and some that are not as interesting. This particular collection is, in my opinion, excellent, with not a bad tale in the bunch. Some of it is due to the writing. I'm a huge fan of Mr. Lawrence and enjoy his writing style. In fact, this is his last book that I haven't read though I'm anxiously awaiting The Book That Wouldn't Burn. Also, Jorg Ancrath is one of my favorite characters in literature. He's in a good many of these stories, and I always like to see more sides to Jorg. And, of course, there are the Road Brothers. It's always entertaining to find out more about their backgrounds. Finally, there's the Broken Empire itself. The stories take place there mostly, except for a few set in Afrique. I find the lore fascinating and appreciate getting more bits. There is an additional story featuring Prince Jalan, too. It's a great collection that I enjoyed reading very much. And now I wait for May 9th, sigh.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5For fans of the Broken Empire this is a very nice addition.
I'm not really a fan of short stories, but I fully enjoyed each one.
