- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Quick reading, but quite forgettable. Fun read fast paced. However, belief must be suspended at times. Characters are believable and the two main guys seem to grow on each other. The plot is fun, but I kept wondering when it would end. Overall, the book kept my interest and I enjoyed it...but forgot it within a week.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Didn't much care for it at first (goodness, up to half way); too far-fetched, too much about the annoying teenage girl(s), etc. But, all along it was intriguing enough, decent characters, pretty good twists, and sooo easily readable! The second half got much better, not exactly more plausible, maybe just more fun. Not bad.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This came heavily recommended, or at least, the author did - and the hype was justified. This is a fun book to read with a good complex [but not too much so] plot and excellent characters. I look forwward to reading the pile of Joseph Finders I have already built up in expectation. There are echoes of the very best thriller writers, even a mention of Michael Connolly is reasonable.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This is a taut, fast-paced thriller that unfortunately has a few too many holes in the plot, situations that lack credibility, and passages of poor dialogue for my taste. It starts out well, with a man having money problems becomes the recipient of a last-second loan from a relative stranger that saves his relationship with his daughter. Unfortunately, it also leads him into a nightmarish existence that gets more and more complex, involving the US government, Mexican cartels, DEA agents, and money men.
The writing in Suspicion is mediocre- nothing fancy, with dialogue that ranges from decent to poor. The story is well constructed at a high level but fails in the details. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Quick reading, but quite forgettable.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Story of how Danny gets involved in a master drug cartel through mistaken identities. He does not know who are the good guys and who are bad. Part of the confusion is that one of the guys in question is the father of his daughter's best friend...someone he admires, envies, and is not sure who to trust. Lots of action.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This book was good and, mostly, kept me interested. However, overall, I thought it was too long. It was well-written.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Danny is a single dad trying to raise his daughter Abby in a posh private school, struggling to pay her tuition and the lifestyle that teenage girls these days want to achieve. (Kuddos to Finder for doing his research on Tori Burch flats :). Abby's best friend Jenna is very rich and wants to spend all of her time over at her house. When Jenna's dad Tom gives Danny money to keep Abby in the school and pays for a trip to Italy for the girls, Danny begins to feel indebted. And man is he indebted. This is where this becomes a gut-twisting, anxiety producing thriller. You think you see the end of this book fairly early in the beginning, but it takes quite a few twists and turns. Very seldom do books give me a physical reaction, but this one truly made my stomach hurt in a few places. Great book - make sure you buy it when it hits the stores in May!
I did receive an early copy from First to Read; however, it did not have any influence on my opinion. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Joseph Finder outdid himself this time with probably his best thriller yet, this novel keeps you on the edge of you seat, never knowing where the story is going. More twists and turns than a runaway rollercoaster that's out of control.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Mr. Finder paints with words. His images instantly blossom in your mind as if you are watching the progression of events on a screen. So very easy to read, difficult to put down, and exceeding true to what happens in real time, this work has all the elements of a great thriller. Car chases, hostage taking, stupid decisions made by teenagers and their parents, deception, lies, good vs. evil, corrupt officials, and even a mad doctor. I thought I had it figured out four times until I turned the next page. Who dies with the most toys always wins. Does this turn out to be true in this story? I guess you will have to read it to find out. My thanks to the Penguin First to Read program for a complimentary copy.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Daniel Goodman is a writer with a problem: the book he’s under contract to write is far from done, and now the editor wants to cancel it. His advance is long gone and, just to complicate matters, he’s having trouble coming up with the money to pay his daughter Abigail’s school tuition. Lyman Academy is the most exclusive private school in Boston and, despite his money problems, Danny is desperate to keep Abby in the school where, for the first time since her mother’s death, she actually seems to be happy. What follows in Joseph Finder’s exciting tale is a not-to-be-missed, no-holes-barred, sometimes gritty, thrill ride of an adventure filled with plot twists and turns and an ending that the reader won’t see coming. “Suspicion” is guaranteed to keep pages turning far into the night. Highly recommended
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Another awesome read by Mr. Finder. It is easy to see why several of his books have been turned into movies. This book needs to be the next one turned into a movie. I rushed through this book because I could not stop reading it. It would have been a one day read except I took this book with me to work. I left it at work on purpose because I wanted to savor it and make the book last as long as I could. Danny is one of those down in his luck type of guys which can be depressing sometimes. Danny did not come off this way at all. In fact, if anything he grew a back bone as the story progressed. However he was a bad actor. I won't go into details as I don't want to give anything away. Let's just say that Danny is lucky that it all turned out good in the end or he may not be alive.
