About this audiobook
J.A. Johnstone
Being the all-around assistant, typist, researcher, and fact checker to one of the most popular western authors of all time, J.A. Johnstone learned from the master, Uncle William W. Johnstone. He began tutoring J.A. at an early age. After-school hours were often spent retyping manuscripts or researching his massive American Western History library as well as the more modern wars and conflicts. J.A. worked hard—and learned. “Every day with Bill was an adventure story in itself. Bill taught me all he could about the art of storytelling. ‘Keep the historical facts accurate,’ he would say. ‘Remember the readers, and as your grandfather once told me, I am telling you now: be the best J.A. Johnstone you can be.’”

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Title: The Loner (The Loner Series #1)Author: J. A. JohnstoneFormat: eBookYear: 2010Publisher: PinnacleMy rating: 5 out of 5 starsAbsolutely thrilling! The main character is named Conrad Browning, and he is a wealthy man who runs many businesses he inherited from his mother. Conrad’s father is known as the Last Gunfighter otherwise known as Frank Morgan, who wasn’t in Conrad’s life until later on. Readers can find out more about Frank Morgan in The Last Gunfighter series by William W. Johnstone. The first book in that series is titled, The Drifter. To be clear, The Last Gunfighter series is about Frank Morgan and The Loner series central character is Conrad Browning, son of Frank Morgan. In The Loner, audiences get to meet Conrad Browning and travel along the trail as he learns to handle a gun and seeks after those who brought death to his home. Conrad inherited Browning Enterprises from his mother after her death, which readers can learn more about in novel titled, The Drifter. Conrad is a well-to-do businessman who is married to a woman named Rebel, and his course is about to change. Conrad goes after the men who kidnapped his wife without having any knowledge of how the men in that world think or act. When Conrad is hurt during his attempt to save Rebel, he is saved and taken to a doctor’s house where he awakens. From that moment on, Conrad assumes a new identity as Kid Morgan, and he must learn that what works in the business world definitely will get him killed in the world of gunfighters! He may be the son of a gunfighter, but he has much to learn, if his luck holds out!I am enjoying The Loner series and the main lead male character of Conrad Browning, A.K.A. Kid Morgan. He is refined, educated and though not close with his biological father he is at least on good speaking terms with him. Conrad has one thing on his mind throughout the novel and that is vengeance. He befriends a man who helps him learn the ways of the new world he is entering, and he won’t allow himself to stray from the path he has chosen. What will become of Conrad Browning? Well, there are more stories in The Loner Series and the next book is titled, The Devil’s Badlands. Watch for my review of that book soon!Note: The opinions shared in this review are solely my responsibility.
