R. Kent Hughes

Kent Hughes was in pastoral ministry for 41 years, the last 27 as senior pastor of College Church in Wheaton. He earned his BA from Whittier College (history), an MDiv from Talbot Seminary and a DMin from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He and his wife, Barbara, have four children and 21 grandchildren. He retired from his pulpit ministry at College Church and was given the title Senior Pastor Emeritus in December 2006. He continues to be involved in training pastors biblical exposition and preaching.

This book was something I’ve been searching for, for a while. How exactly do I live out this daily call of biblical manhood for Christ through day to day life? Sometimes your own convictions aren’t reflective of what scripture actually teaches. Sometimes they just aren’t strong enough convictions. Sometimes you need a little correction, or even a push in the right direction. This book was great for that!

I enjoyed this book immensely. It is one of the better Christian books I have read for men, as it goes beyond staying away from smutty women.Not that it's important to know, however every Christian resource/sermon for men tells you to stay away from smutty women. Speaking as a man myself, it is not the only sin that men struggle with, and Kent Huhes brings those up. Kent Hughes provides insights, if not known already, about how men are lacking involvement with male friendships, church activities and community interests. It also acknowledges that spiritual diciplines is hard work. Definitely challenging.
