About this audiobook

What's worth the price of a secret?

To get an audience, you have to give up something. A secret, a favor . . . something that hurts. Welcome to Thorne Point, where darkness rules.

Rowan

I enrolled at Thorne Point University to be closer to my brother. Now my world is falling apart. Ethan is missing. Every day I can't find him it plays on repeat. The search for answers turns up nothing and I'm running out of options. But there's a rumor on campus. And I'm desperate enough to seek out the Crows as my last resort. Wren Thorne's reputation precedes him, but I won't take no for an answer.

Wren

The night belongs to us. We run this town. Wear the rumors like crowns. But after losing the most important thing to me, my brothers are all I have left. Our bond runs deeper than blood. When Rowan comes looking for our help, I do one thing I shouldn't: break all my rules. She asked for monsters? I'll show her one.

This series started off super strong and didnt stop until the cliffy at the end! I liked how high-octane it was, like it had so many face-offs (physically and emotionally) so you were always on the edge of your seat. Very suspenseful too. I mean, based with how the last book by this author went (which this is a spinoff of) I shouldn't have been surprised. I did enjoy this and cannot wait for book 2 of this series to come out on audio so I can devour it then!

I loved getting to know the Crows and seeing their personalities come through. I loved Colt and Levi really grew on me. Wren had a super tough exterior and was very possessive and domineering but had a softer side to him that I loved seeing, especially when it came to his personal loss. Colt was so funny and loved egging people on, Levi is a secret softie (can't wait for his book next, esp with that ending!!). I didnt get to know about Jude much, but I bet his confrontations with a certain detective will get more explosive as this series goes on haha. With how this book ended, I hope Wren's family get what they deserve, I have a feeling this secret society is going to open up a lot of dirty laundry and the baddies will be revealed soon.

The ladies in this series were awesome, just as enjoyable/likeable as the ladies from the original 4 book series! I loved Rowan, despite sometimes her naivety caused some eye rolls haha but I felt so bad for her. I was hoping for a different outcome in the end. She was strong when she needed to be, too stubborn for her own good haha. I loved the little family she was making with the guys and the side character females hopefully will be around more too in future books (I mean reading some of the blurbs of books 2 and 3 I know they are haha). I loved her BFF, especially how she took on the intimidating Crows to get to Rowan during her tough time. So adorable.

4-4.5 stars for the story, great job by this author!

For the narration, I thought both did a good job with their respective sexes but not so much with their opposite. I thought Jay did a good job with the male voices but his female voices came off whiney and screechy at some points. I also thought he didnt differentiate enough for the various guys for me. I thought Meg did a good job with all the emotions she had to deal with for Rowan and the other voices she did were fantastic! Narration gets 4 stars (3.5 for Jay and 4.5 for Meg evens out). I definitely will be listening to more by these 2 (I think I have listened to a couple from each of them already) ❤️

Enjoyed the book but would have loves a different mLe narrator. Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy his voice, and it wasn't enjoyable at all when he tried to do a female voice.

The story line is above fair. Will listen to the next book if the Male Narrator is different.

Do authors ever vet their narrators? Or have any say in what gets out out. This guy is level 10 awful. His neutral voice is fine but his character change voice goes up like 6 levels in volume it sounds like shouting and like a surfer guy on drugs. And don’t get me started in his female narrating.
