About this audiobook
Is Christianity a bland, domesticated religion, unthreatening and easy to grasp? Or is it the most exotic, unexpected, and uncanny of religious paths? For the mystics and saints-and for Robert Barron, who discovered Christianity through them-it is surely the strangest way. "At its very center, " writes Barron, "is a God who comes after us with a reckless abandon, breaking open his own heart in love in order to include us in the rhythm of his own life." What could be more compelling?

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I'm not Catholic, but I found this book fascinating. The author shows how Christianity is a strange and surprising religion, a story of God defeating evil with love and forgiveness, a Christ who comes to rescue us. The book weaves scripture, the words of mystics, and literature to tell this compelling story. Even more useful are the suggestions for how to follow the way of Christ. We can center our lives in the love of God through our bodies, kneeling, praying, wearing religious symbols, and breathing religious mantras. We can remember our sinfulness and ask for mercy, turning away from temptation. We can find our mission in life, going out to do the works of mercy and proclaiming the truth to a sleeping world.

This was an interesting and stimulating listen
