About this audiobook
Five years after the mortifying wedding night that destroyed all her romantic fantasies, Rose is fed up with hearing second-and third-hand reports of Gil's philandering ways. She is no longer the shy, homely girl he left behind, but a strong, confident woman who knows how to run an estate. And knows what she wants-her husband, back in their marriage bed.
Gil doesn't recognize the bold, flirtatious woman he meets at a ball, with or without her mask. Yet he is bewitched and besotted, and their night together is the most passionate he has ever known.
But when he confesses his sins to the beautiful stranger, the truth rips open the old wounds of their blighted history. Threatening any hope of a future together.
Contains mature themes.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The story is good, but the reader has a manierism, which it took time to get used to. I ended up liking it. The People in the story are more real than often in romances. So more conflicts and jealousi. All in all an interesting read.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5It had a Nice story and narrator was excellent. Would recommend.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The book is good but the voice of the reader, although pleasent, is more suitable for children's books. The emphasis, the accents, are really disconcerting.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Gil Truman is forced into marriage with Rose Davenport due to his father gambling and losing the family estates. Rose is young, just recovering from a severe illness, and the honeymoon is a disaster so Gil dumps her at a distant estate and leaves her there for five years. She's turned into a beauty, so when she goes to London to seek her errant husband, he doesn't recognize her. But he does fall in love with her and they spend a night together. Events only become more convoluted from there.I like angsty stories of unrequited love or separations, and this one is very good. Rose and Gil don't know each other and it takes a while for them to understand how their marriage came about and to stop blaming each other. This book was recommended to me by Goodreads, and it fit the bill perfectly for a quick read with all the feels.
