About this audiobook

Retired Army Ranger John Holliday has reluctantly settled into his teaching position at West Point, when young Israeli archaeologist Rafi Wanounou comes to him with desperate news. Holliday's niece-and Rafi's fiancee-Peggy has been kidnapped while photographing the excavation of an ancient tomb in Egypt. Her captors are known as the Brotherhood of the Temple of Isis-murderous fanatics who worship a dead god.

Holliday sets out with Rafi to find the only family he has left. But their search for Peggy will lead them to a trail of clues that spans across the globe and into the heart of a conspiracy involving an ancient Egyptian legend and the darkest secrets of the Order of Templar Knights.

Secrets that, once known, cannot be survived.

Another good read from this author. However, I was a bit disappointed that the ending was sort of tame & not an exciting conclusion. I think the author was setting up his next book. I was also disappointed in the title, "The Templar Cross". The majority of the story had nothing to do with the Templars. It wasn't until the last chapter that the meaning of the title became apparent. I will continue to read this author, especially his next book which appears to continue the story of some of the chararters from this book.

The Templar Cross by Paul Christopher is a quick good read. The sister of a retired Army colonel is kidnapped on a archaeology expedition looking for the tomb of Imhotep in the Sahara. The story revolves around the search and rescue for his sister. It involves an Israeli who is her lover and an Egyptian. This is a sequel of an earlier novel, The Sword of the Templars. The foe is an arm of the Catholic church who was the foe in the earlier book. The tomb of Imhotep is located as part of the story. It had been located by the leader of the Brotherhood of Isis, a terrorist group in the Sahara. The leader has been looting the tomb slowly. It also involves some Nazi gold in WWII that was being transported out of the Sahara in exchange for the Catholic church assisting a Nazi SS member escape and hide from his war crimes. The story is not as involved as the Dan Brown novels, but it is a quick read for a summer vacation.

I wish I had noted who had recommended this one and studiously avoid their recommendations in future. This is a series I will be avoiding in future. There's not enough plot and too much research lumped onto the page. The authors biases are evident, apparently Canada is evil, no-one from Israel would understand a territorial dispute or religious war, the Roman Catholic Church is evil incarnate, a foreign person with limited english is to be mocked and those are just the snippets I remember. Lt Col. John 'Doc' Holliday is finishing up at West Point having retired when his friend Rafi Wanounou turns up at his house, his niece Peggy is missing and they set of to the middle east to rescue her.The author inserts just wound me up the wrong way, the Amerocentrism is making this hard for me to read and the plot is grinding away without engaging me. I have read 3 of the books and have no real care for any of the characters, I'm giving up on this series for the near future.

Nice action/adventure series. I wouldn't read it for historical fact or even limited accuracy, similar to Dan Brown, but I have to say I enjoy Paul Christopher better.

Now, compared to Book 1: 'The Sword Of The Templars' (which I reviewed as something I could not get into), this is a good read. Brilliant thrust-and-parry strategies in the plot and which keeps the reader engaged and quick on the page-turn.

Another good Doc Holliday novel. Holliday's travels take him to Rome and Egypt as he searches for his missing niece. I will be reading more of the John Holliday adventures.
