Title: Pursuit of the Mountain Man (Mountain Man Series #9)Author: William W JohnstonePages: 260Year: 2013Publisher: Pinnacle BooksMy rating: 5 out of 5 starsWhile Sally is visiting family and friends in the east, Smoke is on his way to Wyoming to get the bulls he wants to bring back to his ranch, the Sugarloaf. Smoke Jensen takes time to stop to gather provisions and rest before getting the cattle; what he gets is a young man who thinks he can out-draw Smoke. Smoke discovers that he has men on his back trail; what he doesn’t know is why. When he is told who it is and their goal, Smoke basically can’t believe folks are hunting him for sport. He is tired of killing. He just wants to drift and then return home to Sally and their ranch. Smoke soon realizes that no amount of warnings or chances to change their mind is going to deter the hunters from dogging him. When push comes to shove, the last mountain man is going to have to take the battle to them.Pursuit of the Mountain Man is an exciting novel filled with action and suspense that audiences will thoroughly enjoy! I love the romance that still kindles passion between Smoke and Sally. They understand each other, and nothing comes between these two people. Smoke believes a man should saddle his own horse and stomp his own snakes, which makes the character stand tall in my book. Smoke was taught how to survive and thrive in the mountains by Preacher. Unless he is pushed, he lives peaceably with folks. But push the man, and one will find that he has unleashed a wolf and bear all rolled into one man.I highly recommend reading the nonstop action in the ninth book of the Mountain Man series.
