I kept listening because the narrator was good. But I was totally unsatisfied by the motivations of the characters. There was no real motive for the wife’s suicide. I kept thinking the father seemed to have an unhealthy obsession with his daughter and the whole thing left me baffled. I don’t think I’ll read any other Highsmith novels.
