About this audiobook
Will their faith prove to be stronger than their fear?
Sensible and independent, Cassie Barton never anticipated being on her own at thirty-two. But after the death of her father and the marriage of her sister, she’s found joy in her work as a seamstress. When a minor accident leaves her unable
to sew, she decides to use her time to compile a book of stories about the men working on the Santa Fe Railroad. But worry begins to grow in San Marcial as Mexican revolutionaries set out to destroy the railroad—and put many lives in danger.
With Europe at war and his longtime friend Cassie injured, railroad worker Brandon DuBarko is burdened by his troubles. He promised Cassie’s father he would watch over her, but as their comfortable friendship slowly transforms into
something deeper, he feels trapped by a secret from his youth. When a vengeful man reappears in Brandon’s life, intent on causing conflict, Brandon must face his past before he can move forward.
As the danger intensifies, Cassie and Brandon must rely on God to overcome the obstacles that stand in the way of a brighter future.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Set in 1916 New Mexico we are there for the building of the Santa Fe Railroad, and we see that some people really don't want it, or have other plans, and the track is sabotaged! This is Cassie and Brandon's story, a story of past family dynamics and losses, there is grieving, and relief, and with a strong thread of forgiveness. Hurts that are magnified, and seen from different angles, or sins that we think we have committed, and we see through the Author that God plays a big roll in our lives! This is a Christian romance, and there is drama, and hurts, along with such warm loving embracing of those in need. This was a great story to get lost in, and I didn't want to leave! Yes, we are gifted with an epilogue!I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Bethany House, and was not required to give a positive review.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Title: Under the Starry Skies (Love on the Santa Fe #3)Author: Tracie PetersonPages: 304Year: 2022Publisher: Bethany HouseMy rating: 4 out of 5 stars. Each book in this series can be read as a stand alone or in order. The novels are Along the Rio Grande, Beyond the Desert Sands, ending with Under the Starry Skies. The setting for the stories is San Marcial, New Mexico during the early 1900s with the Santa Fe Railroad expanding its operations. Here, in the final installment of the series, the story is told of Cassandra Barton’s life after recently losing her father in a train derailment. Cassie, which is how her friends and neighbors refer to her, is an excellent seamstress and a woman whose faith guides her every day. She has been a friend of Brandon Dubarko for years. He worked alongside her father. When Cassie is injured and can’t sew, she sets out to write down the curious stories told to her by her father and others who work for the railroad.Brandon is a man who carries a heavy load in his heart that has been there for several years. Brandon promised Cassie’s father that he would look out for the man’s daughter and has been doing so faithfully. However, something is changing in their relationship, and Brandon isn’t sure he can pursue Cassie unless the past mistake comes to light. Only then might he be free to pursue Cassie and see if she wants a future with him as much as he does with her.The series is well-written and at times exciting to read. There are threads of faith, hope, and redemption throughout the story that make for a delightful time of reading. As usual for this author, Tracie Peterson, also has some twists and turns in the plot that took me by surprise. The ending was really touching and full of promise for the characters. In March 2023, the author’s new series, Pictures of the Heart, debuts with Remember Me. I can’t wait to read the new novel!Note: The opinions shared in this review are solely my responsibility.
