Tragedies through time…
The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire — one of the worst industrial catastrophes in American history — left over 100 women and 20 men dead on March 25, 1911. Susan Meissner connects this disaster with the terror attacks of September 11 for a touching story of American tragedies through time.

Beautiful story and interesting historical background. I felt the story was a bit unbalanced but it didn’t detract from it. I listened to the audio version and the narrator was very good, although the accents of the Welsh men really do need changing. As a welsh woman living in Cardiff, the narrator’s attempt spoils their legitimacy!1 person found this helpful

I liked It a lot until the end. The end lacked emotion for me. I wasnt expecting for the end to be It. It felt incomplete. It was good overall for me though - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5

How can 2 tragic stories about the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire (1911) and the attack on the Twin Towers (2001), the victims and the loved ones they left behind, be told in such a beautiful way?
All my senses were set ablaze as Susan Meissner painted a sure, sensitive and powerful narrative that had me embracing all the characters and marveling at the rich color and detail of two versions of New York, separated by a century but connected by a stunning marigold-printed scarf.
Tavia Gilbert as narrator gave such an excellent performance, giving life to each character and capturing all the nuances of the dialogue, that I didn't want to stop listening to the audiobook.
“Everything beautiful has a story it wants to tell. But not every story is beautiful.” The two stories, despite being tragedies, were brought to graceful resolutions that encourage hope and reject fear. Make this book your next read and your life will be richer for it.
