About this audiobook

Behind the curtain, she must put on the performance of a lifetime … while love and risk take center stage.

Delia Vittoria’s mother has lost her voice at last. After five years of being her diva mother’s understudy, it is time for Delia to assume her place as the lead soprano onstage behind the Academy of Music’s faded velvet curtain. And she is all that
stands between the Academy and its greatest threat—the nouveaux riches’ lavish new Metropolitan Opera House.

Kit Quincy never misses opening night, but when his sister begs him to help get her husband out of an Italian opera star’s arms, Kit accidentally confronts the younger Lady Vittoria instead. When he meets the stunning young diva again, he
attempts to make amends, but then finds himself pulled into a society matron’s plot to win the great opera war. To draw attention to Delia Vittoria as the Academy’s new soprano star, Kit is convinced to act as both Delia’s patron and the
enigmatic phantom who once haunted the Academy years ago. But when a second phantom appears, more than Delia’s rising career is threatened.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK I love Grace Hitchcock’s books and this one didn’t disappoint at all. I read the first two books in this series and they are just oh so good! Really just amazing. In His Delightful Lady Delia Vittoria’s mother has lost her voice after five years. Delia has served her mother as understudy in the Academy of Music and now it’s time for her to hit the stage and assume her place as the lead soprano. What a delightful story. Author Grace Hitchcock gives her readers another story that is difficult to stop reading once you start! I love all of the history in this story, and I am impressed at how much research went into this book and this series. I was intrigued by the Phantom and all of the Mysteries that follow. I could see depth and personality in the characters as well as how nicely they developed throughout the story. And I love how faith and the dependence on God played a part in the lives of the characters. This is a truly wonderful story. If you enjoy a good clean story with lots of history background and romance throughout, you will love this one.A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. “We are stronger than their secrets.” Truly delightful, this novel by Grace Hitchcock delivers! History, duplicity, intrigue, love in many forms, and double standards all come together to create an unforgettable tale of a talented young singer searching for identity and a father’s love. His Delightful Lady Delia captured my attention and kept me glued to the pages until the last word. While this book is third in the series, it stands alone well. It did whet my appetite to read the other two!One thing that stands out to me is the double standard that surrounds the opera houses. The very rich love to go and be seen, be known as patrons, yet the singers themselves are looked upon with disdain by the common person. Their morality is questioned and they are often isolated from society. No wonder Delia is searching for love and belonging. The other thing that resonates with me is how imperfect and selfish “love” can be. Madre is both in competition with her daughter and supporting her daughter’s professional growth. Madre is protective of Delia, yet still ego-centric. She gives real meaning to the phrase “prima donna.”I loved the mystery of the Phantom. I was partially correct in guessing the culprit, but also totally off. I never saw that character in that role before he is revealed! How satisfying. Great twist at the end. I am also grateful for the historical notes at the end, that separate fact from fiction. I closed the book with a very satisfied sigh.I received a copy of the book from Bethany House through Celebrate Lit via NetGalley. No positive review was required, and all opinions are my own.

This is a wonderful look at the opera world during this historical setting. Delia is quite the character and I loved her innocence at times. After her father left her and her mother, they have struggled to survive. Her mother is a very talented opera singer and enjoys the spotlight. I wish I could say good things about Delia’s mother but she has made poor choices which causes people to shun her. Having an affair with a married man does’t sit well with people. But she does adore her daughter and will do anything for her. After being in her mother’s shadow for so long, Delia gets the chance to be center stage finally. I loved how she was well received by many and hopes of a bright future look promising. Delia is put in an uncomfortable position when there is a power struggle between the Academy of Music and the Metropolitan Opera. A plan is set and I loved how the author includes the Phantom of The Opera in the story. This piqued my interest and I couldn’t wait to see how it would play out. Kit impressed me with his dashing gentleman ways and makes a smashing hit in this story. We met him in an earlier story in this series where his heart was broken. He is now in control of hotels and has a place with the elite that grants him recognition. When he and Delia team up to save one of the theaters danger comes their way. The author includes secrets, mystery, faith and a few laughs in this charming story. I loved how the story traces back to Delia’s father and how many secrets were exposed as her father finally comes to see her. There were quite a few surprises in the story which quickly turned the story into a mystery of sorts. The author does a great job in unraveling the past and illustrating how important faith is. I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.

The best part of this intriguing book for me was the behind the scenes look at opera in the 1800's. The book tells the story of an up and coming opera star, with romance and mystery thrown into the mix. The Phantom of the Opera serves as a significant thread in this story and I liked the way the author included it. The Christian message is clear. This is a sweet and clean romance with just enough intrigue to keep the reader's attention.I received this book from the publisher and from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. The opinions expressed here are entirely my own.

At the end of the first chapter I realized that Kit Quincy was one of the suitors for Willow's hand in My Dear Miss Dupre'. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to continue reading in Grace Hitchcock's American Royalty series. This book has wonderful protagonists and devious antagonists, and there are those you will think fall in one category when truly they belong in the other! Hitchcock has written yet another exciting Gilded Age tale that will bring readers hours of delightful entertainment. The timeless message of being one of God's children, fully loved, is shown to provide a sense of comfort and security.I am grateful to have received a complimentary copy of His Delightful Lady Delia from Bethany House via NetGalley without obligation.
