‘Let the guilt go and start living again.’Just expect to hold your breath at times wondering if Madison and Jonas will survive these criminals. Dealing with the mystery behind her husband’s murder and her recent confrontation with a bullet, Madison has plenty to work through. These repeated bank robberies are giving law enforcement nightmares with their inability to solve them. Jonas is trying to get his head around the guilt he is carrying. Will these very different scenarios affect their ability to get this job done?This incredible story kept me on the edge of my seat and unfortunately caused several of my nails to be shorter than they were when I started! You really don’t want to miss this series. These thoughts and impressions are my own and were in no way solicited.

There is constant action in this book from page one until the very end! The villains in the novel don’t even care much about the money; they are just focused on the adrenaline from a robbery, which means a lot of chasing and suspense for US Marshals Madison and Jonas. There are so many twists and turns that kept my attention. I have enjoyed that Madison and Jonas were the main characters in the first novel as well for it gives you time to get to know the characters over several books and also packs another exciting thread of who shot Madison in the first novel. The spiritual themes are subtle but well incorporated into the novel. I have greatly enjoyed this series and cannot wait for book three!I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. Are you looking for a thrilling suspense novel with sweet romance and strong human alliances? Do you appreciate a faith message woven into the storyline? ? This, then, is the book for you! Author Lisa Harris has written a story with everything needed for a good suspense novel: non-stop action, questions needing to be answered, clues that are sometimes misleading, and intense danger. There's also a chance to dig deeper into the thoughts and motives of the two main characters. Harris reveals their strengths and weaknesses, she offers a glimpse of their deepening feelings for each other, and she allows their faith and beliefs to be a part of the plot. I first met Madison and Jonas in The Escape, and I'm so glad that I could witness their personal relationship develop in this book.'For now, she was going to have to take her own advice, pray and let God do the rest. Which wasn't easy for someone used to diving in and finding the solution on her own.' I recommend The Chase to all who enjoy romantic Christian suspense.I received a copy of this book from the author and publisher. This is a sequel I've been waiting for, and I was not disappointed! The overarching plot from the first book was not moved forward as much as I thought it might be, but the romance slowly develops and I'm still loving our two main characters (US Marshalls) and the high speed action that grips you from the first chapter to the last. The new mystery/crime didn't have as many unexpected turns as some of the other Revell reads I've recommended before, but it wasn't exactly predictable either. Definitely an action packed Christian cop chase type of book (if the cover didn't give that away, LOL) and I would totally read it again (after rereading the first) but now I have to wait for the third one! Praying that's the conclusion because the overarching mystery isn't any closer to being solved. Review originally posted @karinateaparty on IG.

The Chase was a book that kept you reading. Madison and Jonas are US Marshals and are after a set of bank robbers. This group has been hitting up several places, but soon they mess up and the stakes are higher. After someone gets hurt, Madison and Jonas go after them and soon the chase begins. They have to work at tracking them down and catching them. Along the way different people get hurt and they have to work on deciding what is the next best step to take. A great read and look forward to the next chapter.

The Chase by Lisa Harris is the second book in the US Marshalls series. Although the characters carry over from the first book, each can be read as a stand-alone. From the start, the suspense and chase begin and takes you on twists and turns until the last page. The storyline was fast-paced and engaging. The characters are well developed and believable. The relationship between the two main characters is underdeveloped and slow in my opinion. For romantic suspense, the romance is a bit lacking but it makes up for it with the suspense. Even still, it's a great book to pick up if you are looking for suspense with twists and turns right from the start!

This is the second book in Ms Harris’ US Marshalls series – and it is a great series! I got this book through the EarlyReviewers program. When I saw I would be receiving it, I checked the first of the series (The Escape) out from the library. I thoroughly enjoyed both books. The books both have very likeable characters – great settings – and never-a-dull moment action! The plot held my interest, and kept me reading to see what was going to happen next. I am enjoying this series – and can’t wait to read the next one!

I missed reading the first in this US Marshals series, The Escape; but reading book #2, The Chase, is a good stand alone book. It is however, one of those somewhat unique series where each book leaves a cliff hanger ending that ties it to the next. In this case .....small spoiler alert..... the sweet, slow romance, doesn't have a happily ever after ending but a "maybe someday" ending.But the meat of the book isn't just a gently building relationship that might someday lead to a romance. No, it is a chase that is packed with fast paced action and the rounding up of bank robbers, murderers, and blackmailers.A plot that thickens as the chase ensures. Set in the Pacific Northwest in the Seattle area, the reader gets cloying glimpses of the magnificent views of mountains and ocean. Makes one long for a road trip to the area.A good clean book laced with Christian morals.Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy to facilitate a review. The Chase picks up where The Escape left off. Madison has recovered from being shot and is ready to get back on the job. The first case she and Jonas are up against involves a string of bank robberies. When the robberies turn deadly, the suspects are desperate to make their escape, and Madison and Jonas are on their trail. As the two put themselves in harms way trying to capture the fugitives, Jonas realizes he can no longer keep his feelings hidden. Will Madison and Jonas capture the criminals before they escape to Canada? And will Madison reciprocate Jonas’s feelings?I read this book in record time. It was exciting and full of action, and I couldn’t put it down. I liked Madison and Jonas in The Escape, and I enjoyed reading more of their story. The pacing of the story is good — it doesn’t drag or move so fast that you lose track of what’s happening. And I appreciate a clean romance. The Chase by Lisa Harris is the second book in the US Marshals series. Madison is back on the job after being shot three months earlier. Her first day back on the job she and her partner, Jonas, are assigned a case of a series of bank robberies.This is a great story takes off three months after the first ends with the same characters so it is best to read this series in order. The author does a great job of filling in the background so this does make a good stand alone story as well. This is a well written story with wonderful characters. It is filled with lots of action and suspense. I enjoyed the friendship and loyalty Madison and Jonas have and the dedication Madison has towards her family.I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley, this is my honest review.

If I want to read an edge-of-the-seat thriller, Lisa Harris is one author I can read and know that I'll be captivated from the first page till the last. The Chase is just that, another thrilling story that I pretty much read in one sitting. Second in the US Marshals series, readers again are caught up in a police story with US Marshals Madison James and Jonas Quinn. Although this is a second book with these two main characters, one can easily read The Chase as a stand-alone. The author fills in enough of the back story that readers won't have questions about the past. The story is full of non-stop action as the Marshalls are on the hunt for serial bank robbers. With incredibly tense moments and a bit of romance, the author has written a story that keeps the pages turning. The characters are realistic and exhibit emotions and actions to which readers can easily relate. With some seemingly unfinished business at the end of the book, waiting till next year for the next book in the series seems like a long wait. Readers who love romantic suspense stories will not want to miss this one.I received a complimentary copy of the book from the publisher and was not required to write a review. Now they’re on the hunt for the fugitives who seem to be always one step ahead. The chase takes you from Seattle to the San Juan Islands. I enjoyed the way Madison and Jonas worked together; always on the same page. The romance was there, but in the background and not overwhelming the suspense of the story. When I read The Escape, I thoroughly enjoyed the high intensity suspense and mystery embedded in the story. Readers will want to read the first book to understand the background story of what happened to Madison before delving into the continuing mystery that plays in the background of the second book.Actually, there are two mysteries happening at the same time, both revolve around Madison and what she is experiencing. Like the first novel, there is also a case for Madison and her partner Jonas to solve involving a series of bank robberies where the last job seemed to go south of what the participants planned.The Chase is a wonderful book that kept me turning pages for hours. There is danger, intrigue, action and romance with more I think still to come. The first book ended on a cliffhanger, and this one hints toward a conclusion that I hope is released in the near future. There are some threads of the story that haven’t been tied up like who has tried to kill Madison and why. Also, is there a future for Jonas and Madison without the past casting a shadow? The "US Marshals Series" from bestselling and award-winning author Lisa Harris is a terrific, action-packed, inspirational contemporary romantic suspense series. I so enjoyed Book One, "The Escape", and I greatly looked forward to Book Two, "The Chase". In this second entry, Us Marshals Madison James and Jonas Quinn are on the trail of bank robbers who love the hormone-fueled high of the steal as much as they love the loot. Madison is recovering from being shot several months before, and Jonas, whose care for Madison has grown, is feeling very protective. Madison can't escape the memories of her husband's unsolved murder years earlier, yet she can't remember who shot her. She wants to solve her own personal mysteries as well as fulfill her duties as a US Marshal. Madison and Jonas are longtime professional acquaintances who have become a solid team who respect and rely on one another. They will need all of their special skills and personal fortitude to bring to justice these wily bank robbers who lead them on quite "the chase". Madison and Jonas are well-written characters, and the suspenseful tale is a top-notch thrill ride. The developing relationship between the two, as well as insights into their own vulnerabilities and the importance of faith in their lives, adds depth to the action-filled story line. Thank you in advance to the publisher, Revell (a division of Baker Books) for providing an advance review copy through Library Thing. A positive review was not required or requested, all words are my own. This is not my first introduction to the author’s writing, and it won’t be the last either. The first book I read was The Traitor’s Pawn and I LOVED it! I do have A Secret to Die For which is on the “eventually will read TBR”. And, since I loved the 1998 Tommy Lee Jones movie U.S. Marshals, as soon as I saw the first book of this series – I had to read it. And, it is a romantic suspense story. Let me just state in advance – readers will HAVE to read book #1, The Escape, prior to reading this as the events from that book will be referenced here and they’re also what begin this novel. In fact, the cover is very similar to the first book – exciting and intense. And, from the sneak peak of book #3 – it’s about the same. With that said, readers will also want to read book #3 The Catch which will be the conclusion of this series and the reader will learn who killed Madison’s husband. So, don’t expect any information on that case in this book. There is, towards the end, a nugget of information. But, nothing to really solve the case or feel like there has been a lead. Frustrating. But … makes for a great segue into book #3. Just like the previous novel; this one is written in short chapters which only adds to the intense suspense. The two main POVs are Madison and Jonas. As this picks up after the events of The Escape, both Deputy U.S Marshals Madison James and Jonas Quinn return and are getting pretty close romantically. Madison’s sister Charlotte also returns as does Felicia (who was only mentioned I believe in book #1). Of course, Madison and Jonas are “just friends”. Even Felicia (Jonas’ ex) and Charlotte (Madison’s sister) see there is something between Jonas and Madison, even if they want to deny it. And, this relationship is one that readers are sure to want to see blossom. It does … in a slow, but not sluggish way. After all, they’ve got fugitives on the run and business comes first. And, these fugitives are dangerous! This picks up 12 weeks, or rather three (3) months after Madison is shot at the end of The Escape. Sorry for the spoiler, but the first page of this book kind of gives that away. Anyone reading a chapter excerpt or the blurb of this book is going to see that “plot spoiler” right off. Jonas is doubtful about her abilities to return to work. After all, anyone who read the previous book will know that his past relationship with a co-worker, Felicia, ended because of a botched raid. So, he’s being EXTRA cautious with Madison who is confident in her abilities. The two are out to serve a warrant for a suspect in a string of bank robberies – Ben Galvan. But, as we all know – that isn’t going to be easy. Past chapter two, things get even more exciting – and they don’t believe one of their “witnesses” – Kira. And, for a very good reason. The robbers aren’t done – they decide to rip off another bank. And, this time it goes awry with a gut-wrenching death. Usually the four have a plan – this time, they don’t. And, to be honest, I didn’t trust one of the federal agents they were dealing with, and I was wrong. There was also someone I didn’t trust in the U.S. Marshals office, and I am still not sure about them – I’ll wait until book #3 to decide if I really trust this person. After a daring escape, the fugitives are on the run while Madison and Jonas learn a few things – Ben and Kira are the main two, and they’re looking for another man and woman. Madison and Jonas catch up to Ben and Kira – and the readers meet up with Felicia again. While Madison and Jonas get two of the fugitives, two are still on the run. And, there is yet another death. Grab the tissues for this one folks! I was beginning to wonder if either Kira or the second woman had something to do with Luke’s death five years earlier (before book #1). This story kept me guessing and second-guessing.Two people have died and two more fugitives are on the loose. Who are they? It is clear that Ben nor Kira want to turn on their “friends”, it seems the foursome had a pact, though why is elusive. When they don’t want to help, even to save themselves – someone else comes forward. [I’ll bet they wish they had spoken up sooner]. Still, how did these four meet? There’s no time to figure it out as The Chase is on for the other half of the group. The two mysterious robbers always seem to be one step ahead of Madison and Jonas. [See why I don’t trust certain people??]Just to add some excitement to the mix – there are a few break-ins that leave the two Deputy US Marshals to wonder what is going on. One of the victims is Madison. It’s more traumatizing for her since had been shot in her own home. The last time she was home alone. A few things go missing, but Harris leaves this particular break-in up for debate –> connected or not? And, even that doesn’t help trigger her memory of the shooter from the end of book #1.But, it’s not bad enough with one break-in – someone comes back a second time, or do they? Neither Madison nor Jonas can tell which case it is related to or who it was. And, that doesn’t see a conclusion – at least her break-in – even by the end of the book. Harris draws out the conclusion of this case until nearly the very end with some exciting drama aboard a ferry. This conclusion can either be very satisfying or disappointing depending on the kind of reader you are. I found it between the two. I was relieved it was over though, more so for the two law enforcement officers. And, it isn’t until the end of this book where a lead towards Luke’s murder comes up. It isn’t a major lead, but it is something. The reader is also treated to a shock regarding Jonas and a career choice. As before, Harris leaves the reader with a cliffhanger ending much like the previous book. Though heads-up, if you read the blurb for The Catch, it pretty much gives away part of this book.Harris; just like with The Escape; has created another pulse-pounding, exciting, non-stop action, gripping, riveting read that at times had me on the edge of me seat alternating with needing tissues to get through a chapter. Murders, blackmail, robbery, daring escapes – this had everything I’d see in an action movie. I couldn’t put this down, and in all respects, it is a one (1) to two (2) day read for me. There were times my heart was racing and times I needed tissues. There wasn’t too much to dislike about this book. Okay, my main problem is having to wait for book #3 to see some romance or conclusion (just joking) to finding out who killed Luke. I loved how Harris continued the previous story while including a new “case”. The focus, at least the way I saw it, was about 25% on the old case and 75% on the new one. It was as if she only brought up the past book’s events as they related to the newer story/case. And, there was an interesting moment when four (4) “punks” tried to threaten Jonas. I almost laughed at their audacity. There is also a “human” element with Madison coming to terms with her father’s battle with Alzheimer’s. It is a stirring and realistic moment that is jarring and yet a reminder we’re all touched by this terrible mind-robbing assailant. While this is distributed by a predominantly Christian/faith-themed publisher, there are not a lot of references to God or biblical passages. There are some mentions, but these are rare and are not integral to the plotline of the story. Anyone who has read the first book won’t want to miss this book. Fans of the author and genre are sure to enjoy it.

This is the second book in this series that I have read and enjoyed, but we are still left with unanswered questions, and thankfully there is another book coming!As this book opens and we begin our journey, US Marshall Madison James, is finally going back to work, she had been shot 3 months ago, by an unknown assailant! Her partner and also a US Marshall Jonas Quinn has been visiting and forming and stronger alliance with Madison, but is she ready to move on after the murder of her husband Luke?With this new book, we are literally off on a "Chase" and this one takes them off running, and we see how the past does meet the present. With the suspects splitting up, will they be able to get away, or will justice be survived?This is one fast paced read, with never a dull movement, and I would be happy to start the new book right now!I received this book through Net Galley and Publisher Revell, and was not required to give a positive review.

The Case is book 2 in the US Marshals series. We see the return of Madison James and Jonas Quinn we met in The Escape. This time they are investigating a new crime which is a bank robbery. With great detective work they discover who the suspects are. Along the way tragedy happens while they are pursing the suspects but they don't give up. The minor storyline was the murder of Madison's husband was addressed in then end and she is closer to coming to closure.I highly recommend this book to those who love fast action thrillers. Thanks to LibraryThings early review program for allowing me to read an advance copy of this book. The Chase is due to be released on July 6.

3.5-3.75 stars (rating shown may vary depending on the site). I have read this author before though I don't know if I read the first book in the series. The title sounds familiar but I don't remember the characters.I disagree with some of the other reviewers. I didn't find this to be non-stop action and I didn't find it to be so compelling that I couldn't put it down. But it was a good story and it got more interesting about halfway through. Though I was disappointed that several of the scenes seem to be of the type common to this genre. Perhaps I've just read the genre too much lately, but I'm tired of it taking a life-and-death situation in order to admit that you love someone. And the life-or-death situation usually happens to the woman with the man having to save her.I do like that the author didn't feel compelled to have the characters married by the end of the book. And it appears that they've known each other for several years, which is an improvement over the usual "we just met each other and in a few months we're engaged or married" that is common to the genre.
