About this audiobook

Even though secrets lie off the coast of Rock Harbor, the truth will set Annie Pederson free—if it doesn’t kill her first. Return to the beloved town of Rock Harbor in the first installment of a new series by bestselling suspense author Colleen Coble.

Nine-year-old Annie Pederson’s life changed the night her sister was kidnapped. The two had been outside playing on a dock, and Annie never forgave herself for her role in her sister’s disappearance. Twenty-four years later and now a law enforcement ranger, Annie is still searching for answers as she grieves a new loss: the death of her husband and parents in a boating accident.

But Annie and her eight-year-old daughter, Kylie, aren’t the only people in the town of Rock Harbor whose lives have been marred by tragedy. While managing the property around the Tremolo Resort and Marina she inherited, Annie discovers a dead body floating in the cold Superior surf and begins to work with the sheriff’s office to tie the death to a series of other mysterious reports in the area.

At the same time, her first love, Jon Dustan, returns after nine years away, reigniting the town’s memory of a cold case he’d been suspiciously linked to before he left to pursue his orthopedic residency. For the sake of her investigation and her heart, Annie tries to stay away. But avoiding Jon becomes impossible once Annie realizes she is being targeted by someone desperate to keep secrets from the past hidden.

In this new series, bestselling romantic-suspense author Colleen Coble returns to one of her most beloved towns, where familiar faces—and unsolved cases—await.

The Edge of Dusk kept me on the edge of my seat! This story was filled with mystery and suspense. Once I started reading it I had a hard time putting it down. I loved being back in Rock Harbor and seeing some old friends.I loved the characters and the plot. Two characters have Celiac disease and it was nice to read about the struggles and how to cope with this condition. But that was just a minor part of the story. The main part is Annie coming to grips with her loss as a child and the return of someone who was once very important. Of course, there is something sinister going on and you’ll be trying to figure it out...but there are twists and turns that keep you guessing. There is brief mention of premarital sex that the author handled with care and showed shame, guilt and forgiveness. There was no bad language, no sex, there is violence but not graphic. The Christian faith was a minor part in the story and since there will be two more books coming (YES!) I’m hoping that the faith aspect will expand.

Edge of Dusk is the first book in Colleen Coble’s An Annie Pederson Novel series. This story takes us bask to Rock Harbor. When Annie was nine years old her sister was kidnapped. Now she is a single mom, a law enforcement ranger and is running her parents resort. This is a nicely written story with likeable characters. The story is easy to envision and hard to put down. I totally enjoyed this story. It is filled with action, mystery, suspense and romance. I was suspicious of the person Annie hired to help with her daughter and the resort. I liked how helpful Jon was for Annie and how he helped her understand her daughter’s health condition. Even with how Annie’s daughter treated him, he was there for them and put them first.I voluntarily received a complimentary copy of this book, this is my honest review.

I absolutely loved the Rock Harbor series by Colleen Coble so I was excited when I found out she was setting a new series there as well. This series off to a great start! This story is complete with multiple suspense storylines woven together in the story along with a second chance romance. I enjoyed getting updates on the characters we got to know in the original series. The one issue I had was with how Annie's daughter, Kylie, behaved. Obviously she has lived through a lot of loss in her young life, but I had a real issue with the way her disrespectful attitude toward Jon was tolerated. It really got to be a bit much at times. This one kept me guessing and left me with lots of questions. Without giving anything away, I must warn you that this book ends with quite a cliffhanger. I need the next book now!Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for a copy of this book. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK Wow! Where to begin! First of all, I was so very happy to visit Rock Harbor again and hear from Kade, Bree, and and more of the characters and the K-9 we so love from the previous Books. Are we maybe in for more books from Rock Harbor? And yes as you can see I love this series so much!  It’s one of my all time favorite series! I like to describe this book as like I’ve been away from home for a long time, and finally I come home. Annie is still running the marina and resort she Inherited from her parents. Jon is back to remodel his dad’s cabin in hopes of selling it. I love these two characters and was certainly giving them a few shout outs when they were spending so much time together. Annie is also is involved in the investigation of two teen girls who disappeared nine years ago, and they suddenly show up in one of Annie’s cabins. Plus she will continue the investigation of her little sister who disappeared about 9 years ago. There’s a lot going on in this story and a lot of characters to tell the story so well. As the investigation beefs up and more people are found to be involved in some way, it really gets scary because apparently the one who took these teenage girls lives is still in the area, cause someone is trying to stop Annie from digging unto the old cold case files. The threats keep coming faster and faster. Some of the scenes are difficult to read, and I found myself going back and re-reading pages, just so I would get everything that’s in the story and not miss anything! This is one of those books that I stayed up all night reading because I couldn’t put it down.If you love a good suspense/ thriller, this read is a must!  I am giving Edge of Dusk by Colleen Coble Five Stars. A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone. I am disclosing this with my review in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.

Edge of Dusk by Colleen Coble is set in the same setting as Colleen Coble’s Rock Harbor series. I thought Edge of Dusk was well-written with realistic, developed characters. I did feel that Taylor Moore’s character needed more fleshing out. It is a suspenseful novel with plenty of action. I thought the author depicted the Upper Peninsula with her descriptive words. She also captured the atmosphere (the spookiness of the woods, the isolation of the camp, the depth of Lake Superior). I like the different storylines playing out in the book. The missing teen girls from nine years ago, hikers being found dead, someone in Annie’s home, and a camper being attacked. I enjoyed following the clues that would allow me to identify the killer (I love solving mysteries). There are twists and unexpected details that keep everything interesting. I like the action and suspenseful moments. There is romance as well as Annie and Jon are flung together. The feelings are still there between them (very evident). Of course, there is the added complication of Annie’s daughter, Kylie. I was a little disappointed with the ending. It was incomplete and we must wait for Dark of Night for answers. There was repetition of details throughout the story (two examples are that it has been nine years since Annie saw Jon and that Annie married Jon’s best friend). There is one incident that I am surprised Annie did not figure out on her own or at least suspect. It seemed so obvious (I cannot say more because I do not want to spoil it for you). It will be interesting to see what happens next. We get to catch up with some of the key characters from the Rock Harbor series (Bree for example). Edge of Dusk is a compelling tale with a missing sister, a second chance romance, a precious puppy, a lethal killer, disturbing happenings, an adored daughter, and a fretful mother.

I have been a huge fan of Colleen Coble's romantic suspense novels for a very long time. I have completed five of her series and several of her stand-alone novels. Edge of Dusk, her latest release, is my least favorite of her books that I have read thus far. In my opinions the writing is amateurish and not typical of her writing. The story's premise was good, but the dialogue was simple and lacked consistency. The same is true for the character development. I am grateful, however, to have received a complimentary copy of this book from Thomas Nelson via NetGalley without obligation. All opinions expressed here are my own.

I enjoyed this Christian suspense read! There is a lot going on here, and there is a beautiful setting, one that should bring peace of mind, but there is evil lurking! The story starts with a body washing up, and then a cold case of missing teens surfaces, and also it has been twenty-four years, that Annie Pederson's sister went missing.Jon Dustin is also back after being gone for nine years! Suspicion revolves around this talented Surgeon, he is a suspect in the missing girls, he said he just gave them a ride?Wow! So much going on here, and some answers come, and yes, there are a lot of surprises. I am hoping that more answers are revealed in the coming books, I felt like I was left hanging with some of my questions!I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Thomas Nelson, and was not required to give a positive review.

Title: Edge of Dusk (Annie Pederson #1)Author: Colleen CoblePages: 337Year: 2022Publisher: Thomas NelsonMy rating: 5 out of 5 starsIf you are looking for a story that is going to hook you quickly, here is that book! Colleen Coble has written previous novels set in Rock Harbor. Once again, we return to this beautiful land in the upper peninsula of Michigan. The central character is Annie Pederson. Readers meet her when she is on a dock at night with her younger sister Sarah. Without much warning, Annie is in the water and injured, but whatever becomes of Sarah?Years later, Annie is a law enforcement officer in Rock Harbor, widowed and with a daughter named Kaylie. With every discovery of a body, Annie wonders if she will get closure regarding her sister. Annie also runs a marina and campground that her parents had owned for years. Annie’s past comes to the forefront when an old flame returns named Jon. Jon is now a successful orthopedic surgeon who lives elsewhere but has returned to repair the cabin his family has owned so it can be sold. The discovery of two bodies in one of Annie’s oldest cabins opens up a cold case of two young woman who went hitchhiking and never came home. Jon is in the crosshairs of the investigation, and unless new clues come to light, he just might be in serious trouble. There is another wrinkle when a young woman named Taylor comes to work for Annie. She appears to be a nice young woman in need of lodging and a job. She is great with Kaylie. Yet, as readers will learn, there is more to her story than what she first reveals to Annie.Be prepared to sit and delve into a great mystery! There is also a past mistake that is part of Annie’s story, and it may just change her future. The book ends with a cliffhanger in once sense, which makes me excited to read the sequel due to come out in January of 2023 titled, Dark of Night. The first book kept me engaged and biting at the bit to get back to the book when I had to take breaks. It is very well written. I hope audiences get the book, read it, and then look forward to a promising continuation of Annie’s Pederson’s tale!Note: The opinions shared in this review are solely my responsibility.
