About this audiobook

Prayer is a Powerful Weapon

Tony and Elizabeth Jordan have it all — great jobs, a beautiful daughter, and their dream house. But appearances can be deceiving. Their world is actually crumbling under the strain of a failing marriage. While Tony basks in his professional success and flirts with temptation, Elizabeth resigns herself to increasing bitterness. But their lives take an unexpected turn when Elizabeth meets her newest client, Miss Clara, a wise, older widow who challenges Elizabeth to start fighting for her family instead of fighting against her husband.
From the award-winning creators of Fireproof and Courageous comes War Room, a compelling drama with humor and heart that explores the power that prayer can have over marriages, parenting, careers, friendships, and every other area of our lives.

If there's a six, I would rate it as such. There's so many books on how to pray, but there's none so far that I read that compels me to improve my prayer life as this book.

This was a good book. Was just like the movie. The prayers were phenomenal. I loved Mrs. Clara. She was a wise old woman who wanted to help others love Christ and build a solid foundation for their family. I would review this book to others.

War Room is a novelization of the movie of the same name by Chris Fabry. A story of restoration and hope. A story of God's grace and forgiveness. Elizabeth and Tony, struggling with life as a couple driven by the love of what money can bring, drifting apart and laying blame at the other's feet. They had missed the whole point of marriage. Enter Miss Clara, fervent prayer warrior. Miss Clara reminds Elizabeth God's goal in our lives is not to make us happy but to make us holy. And through prayer, Elizabeth learns that God wants people to "partner with Him in His plan to draw people to Himself".War Room is an amazing story of the power of prayer and the miracles that God can bring about as we are honest before Him. Prayer brings us closer to the heart of God. Included in the book is a section of full-color photos--stills from the movie and behind the scenes and a section of discussion questions. This story could be a 'game-changer' for many readers, a book not to be forgotten anytime soon.I received a copy of this book through The Book Club Network in exchange for my honest review.

Title: War Room: Prayer is A Powerful WeaponAuthor: Chris FabryPages: 424Year: 2015Publisher: Tyndale House PublishersMy rating is 5 stars.Unlike some people, I didn’t go and see the movie mainly because I love reading a book. I feel as though I gain more from a novel than a movie. While it isn’t a strict rule for me to read the book prior to seeing the movie adaptation, with War Room I sensed a special tale. Therefore, I would want to add ca copy of the book to my home library to read again or pass down to the next generation. What I liked most about the book was there wasn’t a pattern or prescribed way to pray shown in the book. What was revealed was how an elderly woman learned the hard way in her youth that prayer is something very special, holy even, which shows through our daily living without effort on our part. I liked how the book showed that the Lord loves to hear from His children and He alone gets all the glory. He loves to transform us more into the image of His Son, which requires us to know how much we cannot do in our efforts.I believe another strong thread is how God wants to strengthen family units through prayer so that the real enemy, the devil, doesn’t get to split us up. Another beautiful aspect was how the daughter of one family in the book noticed the change in her mother and wanted to learn to pray and journal. The journaling was special and it is a conversation which is only between the writer and God.Plus there is having the ability to remember how God has answered previous prayers when prayers are answered. In the journal, there wasn’t just a request being made but Scriptures being written out that reminded the prayer warrior of Who God is and who we are as well. Sometimes it is easy to think we carry a responsibility that God alone is to carry, and He wants to do more than we can ever ask or think about when we pray.Honestly, I had some hesitancy in approaching the book, wondering if there was a formula inside or if I would walk away feeling convicted or chastened. I really came away more hopeful, with the remembrance that we are to train the next generation and some ideas to incorporate in my own walk with the Lord. As I read, I realized the devil was whispering doubts in my heart and I was a fool to listen and believe him. Now, I am free to embark once again on the journey God has for me. I really hope and pray that you will join me in 2016 however God leads you to walk with Him. Remember our focus is to please Him and Him alone not anyone else. So what do you say? Shall we embark together?Disclosure of Material Connection: I received one or more of the products or services mentioned above for free in the hope that I would mention it on my blog. This book was well written. I love how it shows us that to fix a relationship, we must first work on ourselves. All credit goes to Jesus. Our battle is not with flesh but with spirit.

I loved the movie, and this book brought in so much detail that the movie had to edit out because it would have been too long. But those who enjoyed the film will come to appreciate the back-story to a lot of the scenes that seemed abrupt in the movie.

The narration is excellent. Although most of the protagonists are female and African American, he brilliantly plays all the roles including accents that remind you of Ms. Clara in the movie, and the way he presents the story is compelling.

Learned much about prayer through this book.

So inspiring!! I liked this better than the movie, and am grateful, as always, for the way Chris Fabry’s writing always touches my heart deeply — and gets me on my knees.

Fabry is my favorite author, and I encourage anyone who’s reading this to read more! My all time favorites include Almost Heaven, Dogwood, and most recently, a piece of the moon. Just fabulous! Beautiful, lyrical stories that have stuck with me and moved me, deepening my desire to know the Lord ever more, for years and years. (All of his are great!)

Please write more for us, Mr Fabry!!! :). And THANK YOU for sharing your gift with us!

This is an amazing book on many levels. It is well written with highly developed characters. The story flows well and the editing was well done. You can probably relate to at least one person in the book. It was especially helpful to me as my son is going through some of these issues and it is helping me pray for him and his family. The book is not only a fictional story, it is a self-help for your prayer life also. The story was so interesting, it was very hard for me to put it down. I finished the story and wished for more, but the ending was appropriate for the story. I highly recommend this book to anyone from teenage on up. Male or female, you won't be disappointed. I was given this book from bookfun.org in exchange for my honest review.

War Room is the novelization of the movie by the same name set to release on August 28, 2015. Another creation from Alex and Stephen Kendrick of Fireproof and Courageous, War Room focuses on the power unleashed when God’s people turn to prayer. Following his novelization of The Song (read review HERE), talented author Chris Fabry has done an excellent job of translating images from the big screen to print.

War Room features Elizabeth and Tony Jordan, two high-achieving people who have let things of this world — money, status, and pride — get in the middle of their marriage. The distance and arguing have affected their only child as well, setting up a course of disaster for their future. Enter Miss Clara, a woman who has faced life’s battles on her knees. Through the power of prayer, lives are changed and hope is found.

Elizabeth and Tony are two very realistic characters. On the outside they look like they have it all — good careers, a beautiful home, a well-behaved child — yet they are dying inside. And they are Christians. But neglect of the most important relationship, that of God, has caused them to come to the edge of losing it all. This book is sure to touch a lot of chords with readers. So what can save us? Prayer. The character of Miss Clara is a great example of a life lived and breathed through prayer. Never a laundry a list of wants and needs, Clara’s prayer life is one of seeking and worshipping, allowing God to change minds and lives all the time bringing glory to Him. This book is a wake-up call to believers who are coasting through their spiritual lives.

It is very hard to successfully write a book based on a movie. The book is often just a series of images with one-dimensional characters. But Chris Fabry did an exceptional job of allowing the reader to conjure their own images. War Room never felt hurried or incomplete. It has made me anxious to see the movie. There is a Double Dutch competition described that will have to be seen to be believed. The book also includes pictures from the movie and discussion questions for personal or group study.

Another hit from both the Kendricks and Fabry, War Room is a recommended read.

    Recommended.

    Audience: adults.
