About this audiobook
Everyone's favorite rascal turns learning to read into a hilarious adventure through the power of imagination Ever since Dory met Rosabelle, a real true friend whose imagination and high spirits match her own, school has been pretty good. But now the class is learning to read, and it's proving to be a challenge for Dory. While Rosabelle can read chapter books in her head, Dory is stuck with baby books about a happy little farm. Dory wishes for a potion to turn her into a reader but things don't go as planned. Suddenly, a naughty little girl who looks an awful lot like Dory's imaginary nemesis, Mrs. Gobble Gracker, shows up. And a black sheep leaves the pages of the farm book to follow Dory to school. It really needs her help-this seems like a job for a superhero! And it would help if she knew how to read. In her third book, Dory the rascal takes reluctant reading to new heights with a story that is as one-of-a-kind and hilarious as she is.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5In this one, Dory is learning to read, but having difficulty, so she naturally retreats into the world of her imagination. Like all the Dory books, I found it charming and fun and perfectly able to capture the feeling of childhood. The only issue I had—and, yes, I have some issue with almost every book I read because I'm horrible like that—is that Dory's teacher presents Dory and George with a basket of books which are clearly not capturing their attention or imagination and she's just oblivious. She sees that Dory and George are spending reading time goofing off and her only solution is to assign them new reading partners. Did it not occur to her that two kids with such active imaginations might be bored with books about farm animals? At least give them something about sharks or bugs or animals that are more interesting than sheep, for goodness' sake. But, Dory wearing Rosabelle's brother's Batman costume—which is waaaay to small for her—is comedy gold, so it makes up for the teacher who is maybe in the wrong profession.
