Well written, pleasant narrator, interesting concept (the trade/purchase of memories).
Some plot twists were a little anticlimactic and the world building could have been more detailed.

audio (teen fiction - magical dystopia adventure)I've only managed about a third of this; the narrator puts me to sleep, though I love listening to her reading, and incidentally I do have to rewind quite a bit. It seems to be a quite satisfactory adventure starring a teen with the power of being able to sift through and steal memories of other people, in a dystopian world where memories are frequently auctioned off, either with or without the owner's consent.

I am intrigued by the idea of a person (rather than a disease) being able to steal memories. That’s what made me pick up this book and I’m so glad that I did. I loved it. It had a little bit of everything; adventure, romance, heartbreak, twists.... There were lots of passages that stuck out for me but these two were my favourites:“If I dwelled on my regrets, I wouldn’t have the strength to get out of bed every morning. We can’t forget what we’ve done, but it’s what we do with those regrets that mould us. We’re given a past to learn from and grow, but sometimes the greatest mistake can change your future for the better.”and “Hardly a minute goes by when I don't think of him, but in a way isn't that a lovely thing Julietta? To be so loved that you're always near one's thoughts? I see him every day through the memories we made together,...

I really enjoyed the overall plot of THE MEMORY THIEF.There were some neat revelations and surprises throughout the story, the world was interesting and I Enjoyed the characters.The romance was meh. I am not a fan of the insta-love with no real build up. Etta goes from not trusting Reid to trusting him with her life in a snap. My biggest issue with THE MEMORY THIEF was the pacing. Seems to go from a nice pace with buildup to way too fast towards the end and through the major showdown.I enjoyed the overall story and would read more in this world if more books were written.* This book was provided free of charge from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
