About this audiobook

Mindy McGinnis, award-winning author of The Female of the Species and A Madness So Discreet, returns with a new dark and twisted psychological thriller—perfect for fans of Gone Girl and Fight Club.

Sasha Stone knows her place—first-chair clarinet, top of her class, and at the side of her Oxford-wearing boyfriend. She’s worked her entire life to ensure her path to Oberlin Conservatory as a star musician is perfectly paved.

But suddenly there’s a fork in the road in the shape of Isaac Harver. Her body shifts toward him when he walks by, and her skin misses his touch even though she’s never known it. Why does he act like he knows her so well—too well—when she doesn’t know him at all?

Sasha discovers that her by-the-book life began by ending the chapter of another: the twin sister she absorbed in the womb. But that doesn’t explain the gaps of missing time in her practice schedule, or the memories she has of things she certainly never did with Isaac.

Armed with the knowledge that her heart might not be hers alone, Sasha must decide what she’s willing to do—and who she’s willing to hurt—to take it back.

I have thought about this book all night! I loved it in all it’s weird, dark awesomeness! Sasha was a great character. I am not sure what was real and what was not and I loved it! I cannot wait to read another book by this author.

I have really enjoyed most of her books, but I just could not get into this one. Too far-fetched, maybe. Or too teeny-bopperish. Idk.

    Crazy psychological thriller

This was a very interesting take on fetal resorption and heart defects. What initially drew me to the story is the idea of twin being absorbed and the craziness that follows in this story. This book was just that. Crazy, weird, and pretty good. I liked Sasha and her quirks. For that I would have given 4 stars to this but she doesn't learn anything like a character should, the ending was very unsatisfactory.

I should probably give this book a 5 because it made me feel so strongly about Sasha, but because of that I can't.Sasha is a HORRIBLE person...wow...and I thought Umbridge was bad. The manipulation, her hatefulness, her general lack of real emotions is DISTURBING! I just finished the last chapter on my way to work (audiobook), and I was so upset by that ending, and to be honest, disgusted, I felt sick to my stomach.Ultimately, a great read...could have finished in a day had I started the book earlier...I was glued to this story like the girls were to their sick "dead" game in the book.Definitely will recommend this book...#punkrocklibrarian #audiobook #overdrive @MindyMcGinnis #thisdarknessmine
