The many threads of this series begin to pull together as the French and English families move toward reconciliation and peace while the Revolutionary War plods on; the promise of a "surprise" is unleashed as Catherine's father searches for his long-lost sister's family. I enjoyed this book as much if not more than all four that preceded it because it brought hope and restoration after many disappointments and conflicts that arose through the earlier books.
