- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5In spite of a clearly stated and desired goal of trans-cultural understanding of religiosity, the author never takes the time to delve into one of the most culturally specific items of their study, the definition of “God.” Apparently assuming a largely Western, largely post-enlightenment definition including omniscience and supernaturality, he overlooks those of us in the West, large portions of the East, and a great many Western historical figures who make no such assumptions yet consider themselves believers in “God.”
