About this audiobook
USA Today bestselling author Meghan Quinn’s latest bauble is the charming story of a crafting queen battling a jaded divorce lawyer on a wedding reality show.
Luna Rossi is a veritable crafting genius—she can bedazzle and bead so hard her Etsy site is one of the hottest in the world. So it’s only natural that Luna would convince her brother and his husband-to-be to compete on The Wedding Game, a “do-it-yourself” TV show, for the title of Top DIY Wedding Expert.
As a jaded divorce lawyer, Alec Baxter scoffs at weddings and romance. But when his recently engaged brother begs him to participate in The Wedding Game, Alec grudgingly picks up a glue gun and prepares for some family bonding.
Both fierce competitors, Luna and Alec clash on national TV as harsh words and glitter fly with abandon. But as they bicker over color swatches and mood boards, they find themselves fighting something else: their growing mutual attraction. While Luna is torn between family loyalty and her own feelings, Alec wonders if he might have been wrong about love and marriage all along…

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I loved the original story line which uses a Game show as the meeting place. The initial enemies to lovers interaction was entertaining and also had some initial fun banter, but the story meandered, ended up being longer then it needed to with extra turns that weren't entertaining and didn't add anything to the story for me. It had a light hearted feel, but after the initial unique beginning and banter, it just seemed to turn into any other cookie cutter romance. May have preferred if the fun of the competition or the cloak and dagger cyber exchanges went on at an exciting pace for longer. Lost interest as the book went on.

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5WELP. I'm a big Meghan Quinn fan, AND I very very rarely DNF a book....but I couldn't make it past 2/3 in.
It was the characterization. It just wasn't there. And what was there, wasn't consistent. Okay, I guess Luna was consistent enough. But she just felt so 2 dimensional.
And Alec....good god, he was just all over the place. I get it, Luna was Manic Pixie Dreamgirling him, and teaching him to loosen up and embrace life, or....whatever. But I just felt like this book had him doing ridiculous stuff that was completely out of character.
Instead of listing a ton of examples, let's take the "air boxing" scene, or whatever she referred to it as. On one hand it was really cute. On the other hand, it was just absurd.
If it had taken place between Alec and Thad, or whatever his brother's name was? Like, as a call back to something they did as kids? A re-connecting moment between them? That would have been adorable.
If it had taken place between Alec and Luna, as part of showing how he was willing to lower his guard and be vulnerable and silly around her?! Cute.
But for him to be willing to commit to acting so aggressively absurd with someone who he just met? To the point of holding an ice pack on his TOTALLY PRETEND injury for 20 minutes?! Again, that would have been a heart-melting little moment if it had taken place between him and a CHILD or something....but in context, it was just wildly out of character. She hadn't had time to MPD him THAT much yet, at that point!!
Eh. Maybe someday I'll finish it and edit this review. But this just missed the mark for me, in all KINDS of ways.1 person found this helpful
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5Well… even a great writer occasionally writes a book which seemed to be a good idea. This book is a disaster. However with all the fantastic books she has written i will continue to be a fan. One of the best audiobooks i have ever listened to, The Modern Gentleman, was written by her.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Cute and predictable. While it was predictable, it was an easy read, and the narrators did a great job.
