About this audiobook

Malcolm Oliphant is, beyond a doubt, the brains of the family. Since his father, the laird, announced whichever brother could marry and produce a son first would become the heir, Malcolm's brothers have been running around, falling in love willy-nilly, without using their brains at all. But not Malcolm, oh no. He plans to do this intelligently.

He'll find a widow with a son or two, thus proving her ability to bear male offspring, and explain to her they will be married. See? Simple. No need to bring emotions into it.

But when he finally meets the perfect woman for his plan, there's no logical explanation for the way his heart keeps getting involved. It would be so much simpler if the stupid organ would just simmer down, but have you ever tried explaining things to a hunk of meat, whose sole purpose is moving blood around? Impossible! Besides, when Evelinde looks at him, he feels like...a hero.

Evelinde Oliphant's situation is getting desperate. Since her first husband's death, she and her two sons are living alone in what could charitably be called the middle-of-bloody-nowhere, without any real means of support. When a scholarly warrior--one who makes her heart pound with desire--saves her life, how can she not think of him as her very own savior?

Falling in love--and into Malcolm's arms--is the easy part. But what will happen when she learns who he really is, and why he really married her?

Warning: Contains a sausage-obsessed sheepdog; a cheeky, snot-nosed little cherub; and two people who cannot seem to keep their hands off each other, no matter what's considered proper. Get ready for another dose of silliness (with plenty of naughty bits thrown in) from the Oliphants in this laugh-out-loud series!

This has been a great series. It's been fun seeing how each brother approaches finding a bride. Malcolm takes the logical approach. He thinks it will be simple, but there are some complications he doesn't expect.

Some of my favorite parts of the book were Malcolm's interactions with Evelinde's son. There were times I was laughing out.

I can't wait to see what happens next.

Loved it. One really good story after another. With each story they got better and better. The 3rd and the 4th were my favourite. But where are the next 4 stories, Alistair's, Kiergan's and Nessa's and then the last one which will decide which will become Laird of the Oliphants???. This series is not finished and the books are already out, so when will the rest of them be available on audio.
The narrator got better and better with each story.
He was really good in this 4th book. Can't wait for the rest of the series to be out on audio.

    I’m hooked on this series!

I can hardly believe how fast I am burning through this series. I’m listening to them as audiobooks performed by William Macleod and I absolutely love his voice. His performance of this book (and all 6 of them that I’ve listened to) is fantastic. He does distinctive voices for each character and his timing for the funny bits is perfect.

Caroline Lee has written another witty, LOL story with just the right amount of serious thrown in. Malcolm may have had a plan to woo and marry a widow with a son or two but love ended up smacking him on the head when he fell for the women he saved from drowning. The witty banter with the two young boys was deliciously entertaining.

I’m writing this review after a marathon session of listening to books 4, 5, and 6 within the same 24 hour period (thank goodness I’m retired) so my reviews for these three books will probably sound very similar. I am incredibly sad that the remaining books are not yet available in audio format but I see that they are available for pre-order and will be out in early August -YAY
