About this audiobook

Welcome back to Ho-Lee Noodle House, where you can get fantastic take-out...unless you get taken out first.

Dim Sum of All Fears is the second book in a delicious new cozy series.

Lana Lee is a dutiful daughter, waiting tables at her family’s Chinese restaurant even though she’d rather be doing just about anything else. Then, just when she has a chance for a “real” job, her parents take off to Taiwan, leaving Lana in charge. Surprising everyone - including herself - she turns out to be quite capable of running the place. Unfortunately, the newlyweds who just opened the souvenir store next door to Ho-Lee have turned up dead...and soon Lana finds herself in the midst of an Asia Village mystery.

Between running the Ho-Lee and trying to figure out whether the rock-solid Detective Adam Trudeau is actually her boyfriend, Lana knows she shouldn’t pry into the case. But the more she learns about the dead husband, his ex-wives, and all the murky details of the couple’s past, the more Lana thinks that this so-called murder/suicide is a straight-up order of murder...

I am just loving this series. I love Lana and her bestie Megan. I also love the romance blooming between her and a certain guy! The Gilmore Girls references just made my day! Also I now want a donut. I cannot wait to read the next book!

This is the second mystery in this series set around a Noodle Shop and the owners/workers of the various other stores in the Asian mall. Lana, server and amateur detective, finds herself investigating another murder and mostly just finds trouble. Lana is a very likable character so it's easy to forgive her obvious lapses in judgement. If your boyfriend is a cop investigating the murders and you come across some important information you would likely share with him and get his help. Lana does nothing of the sort. She constantly keeps secrets from pretty well everyone around her and tries to solve the case herself. This is a little annoying but it does make for a more humourous story. I liked the plot of this one and while the ending wasn't a shocker it was satisfying. Even if it's only for a few hours it's nice to live in a world where the bad guys are always caught and go to jail. The narration was OK. I felt like the pacing was off which made it sound a bit stilted and unnatural. It was completely listenable, just not anything special. Despite this I do really like this series in audio.

Vivien Chien delivers another great read or, in this case, listen. I love the Noodle Shop Mystery series. The characters are compelling and relatable, the plots are tight and there's some great humor thrown in. Cheryl May's performance makes it that much more enjoyable.
