About this audiobook
Life has a way of provoking us with traffic jams and computer malfunctions, with emotionally distant partners and crying children—and before we know it, we're upset. We feel terrible, and then we end up saying and doing things that only make matters worse. But it doesn't have to be that way, says Pema Chödrön. It is possible to relate constructively to the inevitable shocks, losses, and frustrations of life so that we can find true happiness. The key, Pema explains, is not biting the "hook" of our habitual responses. In this recorded weekend retreat, Pema draws on Buddhist teachings from The Way of the Bodhisattva to reveal how we can:
- stay centered in the midst of difficulty
- improve stressful relationships
- step out of the downward spiral of self-hatred
- awaken compassion for ourselves and others

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Better than "the subtle art of..." and many other books that try to make some fundamental Buddhist principles easier. Practical examples of challenges in our daily lives and how to better handle them and improve our minds.
I would strongly recommend this for someone who is suffering from anger, road range, resentment, grudges, issues with co-workers, self-esteem/self-worth and similar!
The only thing I would add is that this is more of a lecture series than an actual book. Just listen and you will see what I mean-- but don't let that stop you-- its far better than almost all other books on the subject.
I can't give a higher recommendation.2 people found this helpful
