- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Sadly, one of my least favorites in the series :( Still, I enjoyed revisiting the characters and getting a conclusion.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was a bittersweet read for me, simply because I am sad to see the series end. I've followed these characters since book one of the Vampire Academy series and they've become like old friends during that time. I do feel that the series ending was lovely and while we could certainly learn more about these characters, there wasn't anything too big that we'd want to know desperately and was left out. I like where Sydney and Adrian ended up. I also like where Jill's life seems to be taking her, though I agree with another reviewer that I'd love to see a spin off series about her! As I say goodbye to the series, I do recommend anyone who has a love of paranormal or vampire books to give this and the VA series a read!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The finale to the Bloodlines series manages to tie up a number of loose ends and be an engaging adventure too. Spoilers Ahead....Sydney and Adrian are married and have taken refuge in the Moroi Court. However, neither one is accepted there and they spend most of their time in their suite with Adrian's mother. Jill is still missing and both Adrian and Sydney wish they could be out looking for her. Adrian is still dealing with how much he can use spirit egged on by the voice in his head of his Aunt Titania. Sydney is afraid that overuse will bring on the insanity that has caught others who overuse spirit. Adrian's spirit use is a matter of tension between them. When Sydney is brought a possible clue to Jill's location by Ms. Terwilliger, she has to sneak out of court to try to find Jill. Meanwhile, Adrian has to stay both to keep up the appearance that Sydney is still there and to work with another spirit user who is searching for her missing sister. Both have numerous adventures involving many of the characters who have come to know through the series before reuniting in the final confrontation.I am satisfied with the way this series ends. I will miss these characters. I liked that Mead left room to revisit these characters sometime in the future. I look forward to that possibility.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Such a good way to wrap up the series! No spoilers here, just to keep everyone safe, but aaaaaaaahhhh the ending.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Going into The Ruby Circle, I felt so torn. I couldn't wait to read more about Sydney and Adrian but I also knew that when this book was over, the stories with these two as the main characters would be over. I don't know if Mead has any plans to visit this universe again, but even if she does, while we got some updates from Rose and Dimitri and Lissa, it wasn't the same as being in Rose's head. I love how nerdy Sydney is. She is smart and resourceful, she is loyal, and it has been hard for her to see the Alchemists acting in ways that she grew up believing they were someone different. And now she is on the run from them, but her and Adrian are closer than ever. She has found her chosen family in him, Neil, Eddie and Jill. Who they are desperate to find before it is too late. I love being in Adrian's head. Seeing his devotion and love for Sydney and not just trusting. So the dual narrative is awesome for me. He is battling the use of spirit. He wants to, but he also has a hard time when he can't see others auras, or not helping to heal someone who is hurting. This gets them in another situation besides trying to find Jill. Helping Olive and while doing this, I get to see a whole new side of them as a couple. The twists were pretty awesome, some that I had hoped for, and others that never really crossed my mind. I loved seeing how much the characters have grown in the story. How much Adrian has matured and how his personality has stayed- his sarcasm, quick wit, and humor. But also other things, like his struggle with spirit use have evened out, and though its not perfect, you'd never expect it to be. Sydney has changed in many ways, and then the same in others. Everything came together even though it did feel a bit busy at times, into a great ending for these characters and possibly even this world. Bottom Line: Great ending, hot romance and wonderful character arc completion.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was the final book in the Bloodlines series by Mead. It ties everything up very nicely and I enjoyed it. You definitely need to read previous books in this series to understand what is happening in this one.I listened to this on audiobook and the audiobooks for this series have been very well done. They have a narrator for Sydney and a narrator for Adrian; both narrators do an amazing job.Sydney and Adrian are still being forced to hide out in the Moroi court in order to avoid the wrath of the Alchemists. However they are both desperate to find Jill as well. When Sydney gets a mysterious note her and Adrian hatch a plan for her to leave court to check it out. Meanwhile at court Adrian is trying to help track down Olive, a dhampir who went missing, and is having to use Spirit to do so. As both mysteries are unraveled the results are very unexpected. This book does an excellent job of tying up the majority of the loose ends in this series. There is another storyline involving Olive that wasn’t fully resolved, I am guessing this will be the subject of a future spin-off series.I really enjoyed how Sydney and Adrian have both grown as characters throughout the series. Sydney is becoming more and more powerful in her human magic and has learned to accept help from others. Adrian still makes mistakes, but he is learning to better temper his Spirit use.I always have a bit of trouble reviewing final books in a series. This one is pretty much what you would expect. Nothing crazy happens, I think in general the ending will please most of the readers of this series. I enjoyed some of the new magic we got to see and loved watching Adrian wield Spirit in new and unexpected ways.Overall this was a great ending to this series. I think fans of the Bloodlines series will enjoy it. I would definitely recommend this whole series to those who enjoy young adult paranormal books with magic and romance.
