Who doesn’t love a good hack?
TikTok is a treasure trove of tips, especially on the topic of sleep – the hashtag #sleeptips has amassed more than 544 million views. Intrigued by the promise of a good night’s slumber, we went down the rabbit hole.
There are numerous reasons for sleep struggles: the rising cost of living, load-shedding, life… If if you can find the trick to drifting off, it can be everything. And where better to seek your sleep hack than the hub of all hacks, TikTok?
A word of caution to the uninitiated: TikTok brims with information, but you have to be discerning: much of it lacks professional validation. I selflessly embarked on a journey to test nine TikTok sleep hacks to determine what worked and what didn’t work for me, and asked sleep disorder authority Dr Alison Bentley for her insights.
1 Acupressure
Acupressure is like giving your body a little DIY massage. You apply pressure to specific spots on your body called acupoints, helping your muscles relax and enhance blood flow.
