Vineyard Circuit Windsor NSW
There are famous circuits, iconic circuits, and circuits that have endured the test of time. Vineyards, near Windsor in Sydney’s west, is not one of these. But Vineyards, in its twenty years of existence, served its purpose as a training ground for scores of riders who would go on to greater things.
The suburb of Vineyard, postcode 2765, was the site of winegrowing from 1860, when Frenchman Jean Pierre Ouvrier and his two sons established the first vineyards in the district. It is approximately 50 km west of the Sydney CBD. Despite its location in the Vineyard suburb, the track was always known as Vineyards.
The land where the track was set up, bounded by Brennans Dam Road, Old Hawkesbury Road and Commercial Road, is what could be charitably called worthless. Around it, housing has sprung up remorselessly, yet this portion has, and does, remain untouched, because it is flood prone.
