Making its debut in 1983 as the semi-naked XJ900 (actual capacity 853cc), with a small bikini fairing and a very traditional looking air-cooled engine with the cylinders canted well forward, the 900 was just like the original and founding member of the XK range, the 653cc shaft drive XJ650. The 900 Diversion concept came along in 1994 – a slightly more touring-oriented design with a half fairing mounted to the frame, meaning that the forks swivel within the cowling. The tall windscreen is a practical addition and gives the bike extra appeal to the budget-conscious touring types. A dual seat of generous proportions allows pillions a high degree of comfort.
