Your favorite single variety or combination of berries and stone fruit can be used in this recipe.
Makes 1 (9-inch) pie
¾ cup sugar, plus more for sprinkling5 tablespoons tapioca flour5 cups fresh berries or sliced pitted stone fruit1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice½ teaspoon vanilla extractClassic Pie Dough (recipe follows)1 large egg, lightly beaten
