TRAPPING CAN BE A DRAG

More times than I care to remember, as a young trapper I checked a coyote set only to find my stake and trap missing. I could tell that something, probably a coyote, had been around, but there was no catch circle. All I could do was scratch my head, wondering what had gone wrong.

This first started many years ago when I was just beginning my career as a canine trapper. The first time it happened I thought I was doing something wrong. Of course, if a person were taking my trap I would never know because it only takes a few seconds for a person to pull up a trap. As it turns out, there was not a human thief taking off with my gear, the coyotes were to blame.
