HIGH IN HOLLYWOOD

On New Year’s Day in 2017, the people of Los Angeles awoke to the iconic Hollywood sign transformed into “Hollyweed.” Pomona, California-based multimedia artist Zach “Jesushands” Fernandez soon claimed responsibility for the stunt.

“I acted alone,” he tells High Times.

Eight days after the sign appeared, Fernandez surrendered to police with his attorney and received a citation. The act made his name known worldwide, and the fame put his art in the spotlight. His designs have cryptic messages about things like astral projection and simulations.
