I am watching: season 1 of Tiny Creatures (2020) on Netflix.
My take on this show: Tiny Creatures is a blend of nature documentary and reality series about the lives of small creatures in a range of environments across the US, from New York City to the Florida Everglades. While the animals’ natural behaviour is explained with cool facts, the scenes that play out on screen have clearly been manipulated for dramatic purposes – for example, in episode 2 there’s an animal handler placing the hamster in different sets to create a storyline. Figuring out how each scene has been manipulated could be a fun activity for older kids. PS: British cinematographer Jonathan Jones (who worked on the docu-series Planet Earth II) shot the entire series on sets in his backyard using animal actors (trained animals).
