NASI GORENG
A super-tasty and quick-to-make fried rice dish, popular in Indonesia and Malaysia.
Serves 2
■ 150g long grain white rice
■ 100g green beans
■ 2 tbsp kecap manis
■ 1 tbsp soy sauce
■ 3 tbsp vegetable oil
■ 2 garlic cloves, crushed
■ 1 red fresh chilli, sliced
■ 1 carrot, peeled and sliced
■ 6 shiitake mushrooms, sliced
■ 1 large shallot, chopped
■ 120g beef fillet, sliced thinly into batons
■ 3 free-range eggs
■ 2 sprigs of coriander
1 Cook the rice according to the packet instructions.
2 Blanch the beans by plunging them into boiling water for 2-3 mins so they still have a crunch, then cool under cold running water and cut in half.
