Description
EPISODE 23 of 'All About Art': an Interview on Founding an Art & Tech Startup with Artscapy COO and co-founder Emilia De Stasio
Within this episode, I interview COO and co-founder of Artscapy, Emilia De Stasio about founding a startup that is by art collectors for art collectors and uses the combination of art and technology at its core. Emilia is an entrepreneur, startup investor and advisor, as well as speaker and expert panelist at technology and startup events. Building on five years as a financial analyst and published researcher at the European Central Bank and Moody’s Investors Service, she moved into the world of startups as an investment manager, investing in early-stage tech-driven startups across finance, advertising, VR, digital consumer products, and software solutions. Emilia is committed to giving back to the innovation ecosystem by mentoring founders at UCL, Startup Leadership Programme, and Eligent Accelerator (something she mentions later in the episode!). Emilia contributes a holistic business perspective as the COO of Artscapy, while having a very clear and tangible vision for how to democratize fine art collecting, by being an experienced collector herself.
Stay tuned to hear me chat to Emilia about the company and its mission, what the gaps were within the arts in terms of collecting and technology that needed to be filled, and what is needed if you want to scale a company within the arts. We touch on the important questions you need to ask yourself when speaking to investors as a founder, as well as personal topics such as what it was like founding a company with her husband, Alessandro.
