The high interest rates and overall lack of stability are generating "a very significant reset" in the multifamily investment market, according to Robin Potts, partner & CIO in Canyon Partners Real Estate’s Los Angeles office.
However, Potts expects sales to pick up later this year, when rates will likely come down. But even though that will encourage banks to loosen their lending standards, Potts sees prolonged opportunities for alternative lenders who have now established a more permanent role in the multifamily investment market.
