Description

Fifteen years ago, Belinda Kirkpatrick was pregnant and had an 18-month-old when her fiance was killed in a car accident.  This left her to finish university, raise two small babies, start her business and complete her Masters all on her own and in a state of grief. Where is Belinda now? She is an expert Naturopath and Nutritionist with over 13 years of clinical experience and the author of ‘Healthy Hormones’. She specialises in women’s health and is especially passionate about hormonal health, fertility management and miscarriage prevention. She is known for her extensive knowledge of natural and conventional treatment in addition to her evidence-based approach to integrative healthcare, and is a regular on The Daily Edition and has written for and been interviewed by many publications including the Sydney Morning Herald, Cosmopolitan, and Mamamia.  In this episode, Belinda chats with me about: Her experience with grief after her fiance was killed, whilst looking after a toddler and being pregnant. Choosing life. Supporting her kids through grief and keeping their father's memory alive. Dating and mum guilt. Finishing university and starting a business whilst being a single mum. Raising teenage girls. Not comparing your life to others. Plus SO much more.  We also chat about Belinda's book - Healthy Hormones - and her Seed iPhone app. I loved chatting with Belinda. She is funny, she is happy, she is a breath of fresh air, and she is an inspiration.   Links mentioned in the episode: Read about International Widows Day here.  Sign up to the Get Your Sparkle Back Challenge here.  Join the Facebook group - Healthy Hormones with Belinda Kirkpatrick - here. Becoming a single mum is one of the most daunting and overwhelming life changes someone will ever go through. Whether you are pregnant or have teenagers, you will most likely be confused and struggling with what to do next. I became a single mum in 2013 when my daughter was just a few months old, and it has been a challenging but rewarding journey ever since. This Podcast (and the website www.singlemothersurvivalguide) was created to assist newly single mothers in all things they may need to know about. SO WHAT IS THE SINGLE MOTHER SURVIVAL GUIDE PODCAST ABOUT? A Podcast for single mums, made by a single mum… The Single Mother Survival Guide Podcast includes a mixture of me babbling about single mums business and interviews and discussions with different people and experts about different topics. First off the ranks this includes an interview with a Wills and Estate lawyer which contains everything YOU need to know about getting a Will done, an interview with a financial adviser on everyday money management, savings, spending and so forth, an interview with an online security expert so that YOU know how to keep yourself secure online, an open interview with a domestic violence survivor and advocate, and another interview with a financial adviser on everything to do with insurance, and what you should think about getting insured to ensure the financial safety for you and your kids. Coming up after that I have chats with people including parenting experts, family lawyers, and a life coach. I also chat about the social stigma of being a single mum, single parent travel, everyday tips to make YOUR life easier, dating, personal budgeting, resources out there to help YOU AND YOUR CHILDREN, child support, domestic violence, successful co-parenting, advantages to being a single mum, and the list goes on…
