It' a Winans Wednesday Edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, as Jacob Winans(@JacobWinans8) joins Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) to discuss the Panthers' 7-6 OT loss to Pittsburgh in a game where the Panthers came in short handed without Sam Bennett and a surprise start by Alex Lyon in net. Pittsburgh also made a last minute change in goal with Casey DeSmith starting with Tristan Jarry a scratch(so no backup goaltender on the night for PIT). Panthers got out to a 2-0 lead, but it immediately evaporated with 3 unanswered goals. The Cats regained the lead 2 more times on the night, but the continuous mistakes in their own zone and going to the penalty box(2/5 on the PK) did help them put this away. The Panthers had timely scoring towards the end of the first and third by Carter Verhaeghe to tie the game both times(now a career high in goals) and even had a short handed goal by Aaron Ekblad(1 goal and 2 assists on the night). Panthers had an untimely penalty in overtime as Brandon Montour was sent to the penalty box in overtime, which Penguins D Kris Letang converted to give Pittsburgh the OT win. But it's all so bad for the Panthers dropping a game like this, and it's not even about the fact that they got an overtime loss.
