Panthers never trailed after getting two goals in the first 12 minutes as they had the territorial advantage early and often. Detroit cut the lead to 1 multiple times on Monday night, but the Panthers had a response every single time. It was a record setting night where Aleksander Barkov became the all time leader in points for the Florida Panthers player with 614(passing Jonathan Huberdeau). Barkov got the secondary assist on Gustav Forsling's goal in the 2nd period to make it 3-1 at the time to give him the record. However, Monday night was more than just a win for the Panthers in Detroit. Along with the Pittsburgh Penguins losing to the Ottawa Senators at home, which means that the Panthers are now currently in the final Wild Card Spot in the Eastern Conference with 12 games to go. Carter Verhaeghe gets a two goal night as he is now 4 goal away from 40 goals. Matthew Tkachuk got 3 points on the night where he now has the record for most multi-point games in Panthers History. However, Monday was the front end of the back-to-back, so the Panthers have to quickly turn the page and turn their attention to the Philadelphia Flyers, who the Panthers have seen since the last week of October.
